Job Summary:  The Youth Engagement Coordinator is
responsible for facilitating and coordinating a robust youth engagement
strategy for the EUFT project, with a particular focus on young adolescent   youth, women who have been impacted by
environment degradation. The Youth Engagement Coordinator will work closely
with the project team to assist in the overall coordination of services and
opportunities to ensure adherence to the project objective of youth engagement,
building community, equitable practices that promote race equity, diversity and
inclusion, and strengthens- community based practice.

 

The Youth Engagement
Coordinator will work with the Communications, Livelihood and SBC coordinator
to develop a community engagement program and facilitate opportunities that
connect youth and other population to management of natural resources.

 

In the event of a
major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside
the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the Save the Children International Youth Engagement Coordinator
EUTF job placement must hold a Degree or post-graduate qualification in social
sciences, development, community development business, program management or
equivalent experience.

·       
At least
five (5) years’ work experience in participatory programming with at least 3
with youth and other vulnerable groups youth with advocacy engagements that
seek to give voice to vulnerable groups (young people, refugees, persons with
disability)

·       
Understands
group dynamics for youth and other vulnerable groups within the agricultural
market system in Uganda is an added advantage

·       
Experience
with projects funded by institutional donor (knowledge of rules and
regulations)

·       
A strong
belief in the potential for young people influence positive change through
participation

·       
Agile in
programme budgeting, planning, monitoring and management

·       
Significant
experience of delivering face to face workshops and creative sessions with
young people

·       
Passion
for working with young people and experience and knowledge of the issues they
face

·       
Good
understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and safe working practices

·       
Experiencing
of driving change to adopt a youth-led culture

·       
Project
management experience

·       
Excellent
people skills, adaptable and flexible in manner and approach with an
understanding of how to motivate and develop staff

·       
Excellent
written and verbal communication, as well as good listening skills with the
ability to communicate with empathy and understanding

·       
Critical
thinking, strategic planning and problem-solving skill

 

Desirable

·       
Strong
analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.

·       
Ability
to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively
as a member of a team.

·       
Highly
developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in multi-cultured
environment with people from diverse beliefs and cultural backgrounds.

·       
Willingness
to be based in the West Nile sub-region for months at a time, with frequent
travel to project offices and field sites within the sub-region

·       
Ability
to speak some of the local languages in the project operational areas.
