Job Summary:  The Solutions Architect will mainly develop
and maintain the solution architecture and in some instances design for
specific business functional/technical areas as well as to be actively involved
for the full duration of the programme to ensure implementation on the evolving
solution of an application. The jobholder will also participate in the
definition of the higher-level functional and Non-functional Requirements,
analyse technical trade-offs, determine the major components and subsystems,
and define the interfaces and collaborations between them.  The incumbent will ensure the strategic
alignment of IT architecture (functional, application, data and integration
architecture) with the agreed business outcomes.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Render daily
support aligned with a model of Continuous Delivery, promoting a Dev Ops
culture

·       
Participate
in the end-to-end agile development process within the construct of DevOps
practices and methodology.

·       
Support
agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand ups, sprint review and sprint
retrospectives.

·       
Supervise
and foster built in quality.

·       
Provide
technical insights to support release planning, including user stories
breakdown, tasks, assignment, and backlog grooming, through elicitation and
clarifications of user stories and requirements with business stakeholders and
communication of IT dependencies.

Develop and
Contribute to Reference Architectures

·       
Work
with portfolio stakeholder, EAs and enablers to develop, separate and implement
the enabler Epics.

·       
Align
reference architectures to strategic and target roadmaps.

·       
Conduct
research and or investigate in order deliver reference architectures.

·       
Contribute
and define architectural guardrails and non-functional requirements.

·       
Understand
the Solution Context and work with the teams, Customers, and suppliers to help ensure
fitness for use in the Customer’s environment.

·       
Review
and align product choices to avoid redundant effort.

·       
Assist
with the formulation and review of architectural policies, principles and
standards.

Develop and
Contribute Domain/Segment Architectures

·       
Plan and
develop the architect runway in support of upcoming business
features/capabilities.

·       
Support
Technology/engineering aspects of Programme and value stream Kanban’s.Establish
architectural runway and backlogs for specific domains/segments.

·       
Create
domain/segment architectures by collaborating with key stakeholders, peers and/
or feature teams, aligned to reference architectures and roadmaps.

·       
Coordinate
activities across areas and domains in order to facilitate and deliver relevant
artefacts.

·       
Explore
and propose new concepts and solutions through innovative thinking.

·       
Ensure
that the Formulated Architectures are at the appropriate level.

·       
Ensure
that the Formulated Architectures are at the appropriate level (conceptual,
logical and or physical) for the correct understanding and importance.

·       
Investigate
and research in order deliver relevant domain/segment artefacts.

·       
Produce
transitional architectures aligned to the target architectures.

·       
Influence
and communicate to relevant stakeholders to accept and adopt architectures.

·       
Develop
domain/segment architecture patterns to be consumed in Solution, Segment or
Domain Architectures.

Develop Solution
Architectures/Designs

·       
Plan and
develop the architect runway in support of upcoming business
features/capabilities.

·       
Support
Technology/engineering aspects of Programme and value stream Kanban’s.

·       
Be
responsible for the creation of the solution by collaborating with key
stakeholders, peers and/ or programme teams, aligned to reference, segment and
domain architectures and roadmaps.

·       
Coordinate
activities across areas and domains in order to facilitate and deliver relevant
artefacts.

·       
Establish
architectural runway and backlogs for the programmes overall solution intent.

·       
Explore
and propose new concepts and solutions through innovative thinking and
alternative solutions.

·       
Ensure
that the solutions are at the appropriate level (conceptual, logical and or
physical) for the correct understanding, interpretation and importance.

·       
Investigate
and research the problem statement or project needs in order deliver relevant
solution artefacts.

·       
Produce
transitional solutions aligned to the target architectures.

Deliver
Architectural Assessments of technology solutions and or Proof of Concepts

·       
Perform
technical assessments of new and proposed technologies, products and services
as well as concepts (proof of concepts) for possible adoption by the
organisation.

·       
Document
proof points or success criteria for assessments and or proof of concepts.

·       
Create
position papers or assessment reports for technology, assessments, technology
evaluation, or IT solutions

Ensure Architecture
Collaboration and Review

·       
Provide
an assessment, review, recommendation and or opinion of Solution, Domain and
Segment architectures for alignment to IT & Business Strategies,
legislation and regulation and other relevant governance processes.

·       
Participate
and or present in relevant IT Architecture Governance forums or related forums
where applicable.

Provide Solution
and Specialist Consulting

·       
Provide
advice on the following aspects: o Planning and Analysis o Design, Build, Test
and Deploy

·       
Identification
of Opportunities and Enablement o Risk and Impact analysis o Solution execution

·       
Provide
architectural, technical advice and insights too resolve critical situations
affecting the organisation.

·       
Recommend
pragmatic remediation options inclusive of advantages and disadvantages to
Business and IT.

Monitor Requests
for Information and Proposals (RFI/ RFP) 

·       
Provide
input and evaluation criteria during the RFI & RFP process.

·       
Evaluate
and score RFI & RFP response.

·       
Create
and present the report by providing recommendations and findings in writing.

Adhere to Agile
methodologies and follows Agile principles through work outputs and behaviours

·       
Strive
to reach mature levels on the Continuum model by building own and team
competence to work in a continuous delivery environment: Champion team learning
and adopt suitable methodologies and practice.

·       
Collaborate
with colleagues from different disciplines in a cross-functional team to
deliver against iteration target.

·       
Work in
partnership with Business representatives (e.g. Product Owner, Product Manager)
ensuring alignment and value to the customer.

·       
Be able
manage work effectively as an individual and team member including the
reprioritisation of backlogs and reacts flexibly to changing demands.

Manage
work using available resources and methodologies ensuring full team engagement.

Estimate
the size and complexity of the work within the team and managing this
appropriately.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate for the Stanbic Bank Solutions Architect job placement must
hold a  Bachelor’s Degree – Information
Technology, Engineering, Commerce

·       
Relevant
Architecture Certification

·       
5 – 7
Years of experience in multiple IT disciples e.g. Dev

·       
Hardware,
analysis, design, service management, architecture

·       
5-7
years of experience across all application areas of IT

·       
Be
recognized as an expert in IT Architecture
