Job Summary: The
company seeks to perform all its activities in ways that complies to Diageo
ways of brewing, environmental policies and ensure the occupational health and
safety of its employees, contractors, suppliers and visitors to the site.
Brewing operations are 24 hours per day seven days a week using the available
resources.

 

The Shift Brewer
manages all activities of brew house, fermentation, maturation and filtration.
On Shift bases brewing programs, production reviews, waste, quality and people
management.

 

The Shift Brewer has
to ensure an alignment for brewing programs, production reviews, people
management, with support sections like Utilities, Quality, Engineering,
Innovations, Stores and also our customers (packaging) and waste and
environment control.

 

Purpose of Role: To economically produce the right quantity of beer so as to meet the
product demands. To produce beer of good quality so as to satisfy customers and
which in turn enhances product value in the market place.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·        
Lead the
team – Motivation, training needs analysis, coaching the team and develop them.
After normal working hours/ holidays the incumbent is in charge of the plant.

·        
Maintain
and ensure quality of products

·        
Accountable
for all losses and throughput within the shift

·        
Responsible
for the safety of operators during shift

·        
Execution
of work done in the SAP system to enable planning and processing of materials

·        
Responsible
for the security of materials, machines and team during the shift. Ensure
compliance with safety requirements at the work environment.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The
ideal candidate for the Diageo Shift Brewer job must hold a Bachelor of Science
in Food Science and Technology, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry and Chemical
Engineering

·        
A post
graduate diploma in Brewing Technology, Malting, Brewing and Distilling Science

·        
Associate
member of the institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD)

·        
At least
2 (Two) years on job training with a food or beverage manufacturing Industry

·        
Knowledge
of ISO 9001, HACCP, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 standards and any other
management systems

·        
In-depth
knowledge in beer processing Technology and Quality control.

·        
Quality,
Environmental, health and safety compliance.

·        
Good
understanding of safety,  risk
environment management systems to control risk

·        
High
numerical ability.

·        
Computer
literacy.

·        
A
thorough knowledge in statistical methods of quality and process control.

·
