Job Summary:  The Procurement Buying Assistant helps the
procurement leadership to certify that a business has a constant supply of
materials or equipment. They work primarily in an administrative capacity,
doing tasks such as scheduling material purchases and deliveries and verifying
current inventory.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

new suppliers for low value spot purchases and presenting them to Category
managers for screening

and comparing prices from several suppliers for all low value spot purchases

prices and delivery dates

that goods and services are fit for purpose and meet with the organization’s
requirements prior to order placement

sure goods arrive on time, and ensure that suppliers are paid on time

relationship with low value spot purchase suppliers, conducting quarterly

and advise on any issues which present a risk or opportunity to the business


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

ideal candidate for the Hima Cement Procurement Buying Assistant should hold a
Bachelors of Honors Degree in a Procurement and Supply Management or a related
qualification from a recognized University.

qualifications in CIPS or its equivalent is an added advantage.

At least
two years of experience in a similar Procurement role (sourcing, operations)
with exposure to optimal procurement processes and standards in a similar environment
and/or organization.

performance in working with cross-functional teams, with requisite drive and
energy to ensure that challenging tasks are successfully delivered

and skills in the Electronic Procurement, and Enterprise Resource Planning
system (ERP) like SAP is an added advantage.

results oriented.

Able to
plan and prioritise

dealing with people and a good listener

tolerant & determined

Able to
work extended hours when required

to work anywhere within Uganda is added advantage
