quality, sustainable care. Operating in East Africa, LN works to improve the
quality of health systems from the ground up and is specifically dedicated to
health systems strengthening in the private not-for-profit sector. In Uganda,
approximately 60% of all healthcare services are provided by faith-based
not-for-profit centers, many of these serving rural, low-income populations.
Through partnerships with faith-based health centers, LifeNet implements
practical responses to everyday health challenges facing the poor.
Job Summary: The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
Associate will measure the impact of our programs, focusing on key performance
indicators in adhering to best practices in maternal, neonatal and child
health, patient safety, and increasing financial sustainability and access to
quality medicines. This role will report to the Director of Monitoring &
Evaluation, based in Kampala. One of LN’s strengths is monitoring and
evaluation of our training programs, and our existing tools help drive the
implementation of evidence-based clinical practices that save lives and prevent
disease and disability. Our M&E activities include an ongoing scientific
research study related to maternal and neonatal health outcomes, electronic
data collection and evaluation through our online Salesforce data platform, a
pilot electronic medical record (EMR) program, and a non-communicable disease
screening and treatment program. The M&E team also generates reports and
supports data use throughout the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

M&E
systems development: assist in the development and rollout of our expanding
M&E systems, to monitor LN’s expanding programs and interventions
·
Data
management: provide basic troubleshooting and management for LN data platforms,
including Salesforce and Formyoula
·
Staff
training: build the capacity of our staff through the provision of training and
technical support to LN trainers across country sites, including the
on-boarding of new hires
·
Capacity
building: build partner capacity through targeted initiatives with LN partners
to improve their M&E capabilities
·
Research:
provide support as needed for our impact evaluation study and other research
projects that will be carried out by LN staff
·
Project
Development — support the M&E Team in the ongoing development of exciting
new initiatives related to electronic medical records (EMR), noncommunicable
disease (NCD) care, and other research opportunities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
Previous
experience developing monitoring and evaluation plans (i.e. defining goals or
performance indicators, establishing how data will be collected, or using
qualitative and quantitative methodologies, etc.)*
·
Quantitative
or qualitative data analysis skills, including experience with statistical
software packages like SAS, SPSS, STATA, or R*
·
Experience
developing or managing tools for data collection or monitoring (i.e. surveys,
interviews, or focus groups)*
·
Experience
communicating complex information in an accessible manner through reports,
presentations, trainings, or talking points*
·
Bachelor’s
or master’s degree in statistics, public health, health research or a related
field
·
Previous
experience in health research design, implementation, and analysis
·
Cross-cultural
experience
·
Experience
with Salesforce
·
An
excitement for analyzing complex organizational problems, identifying
innovative solutions, and engaging others to implement, preferably in a
low-resource environment
·
Ability
to perform in an entrepreneurial team-based environment, deliver strong
results, and ask for help when needed
·
Ability
to function well in a diverse, cross-cultural work environment
