About USAID Project:

ReLAB-HS aims to
support development of health systems that are responsive to the escalating
challenge of addressing the growing needs for rehabilitation within
populations. It seeks to co-design and implement innovative, comprehensive,
cost-effective interventions that strengthen health systems for provision of
rehabilitation including assistive technology. ReLAB-HS will focus on
integrating rehabilitation and assistive technology services across all levels
of care within health systems. The ReLAB-HS consortium comprises of six
international partners with expertise in health systems, implementation
science, and delivery innovations.

 

Job Summary:  UCP Wheels for Humanity (UCPW) is seeking
candidates for a ReLAB-HS Uganda Communications Coordinator for a new five-year
USAID-funded project, Learning, Acting and Building for Rehabilitation in
Healthy Systems (ReLAB-HS). The ReLAB-HS Uganda Communications Coordinator will
be responsible for supporting national and global project communications
development and dissemination. Only candidates with work authorization in
Uganda will be considered; relocation benefits will not be provided. This is
expected to be a part-time role.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Under the direction of the ReLAB-HS Uganda
Project Manager, the ReLAB-HS Uganda Communications Coordinator will be
responsible for performing the following primary tasks:

Coordinate
with Consortium Communications Coordinator and UCPW headquarters (HQ) team to
support national and global project communications development and
dissemination

·       
Support
the development and implementation of a global ReLAB-HS strategy which will be
led by the Consortium Communications Coordinator

·       
Support
the development of a country-level communications strategy and plan

·       
Identify
opportunities to amplify project milestones, achievements, and success stories
in coordination with UCPW HQ staff and consortium colleagues

·       
Collaborate
with relevant UCPW and consortium team members to explore the use of social
media and other tools to promote and disseminate ReLAB-HS content

·       
Coordinate
with UCPW programs and communications teams to create ReLAB-HS-related content

·       
Help
draft and translate press releases and/or other communications pieces for local
media sources when requested

·       
Compile
or prepare inputs, including written pieces, photographs, and other
communications materials, to support ReLAB-HS communications initiatives

·       
Prepare
collateral, graphics, presentations, and other required communications
materials for trainings, workshops, and other in-country activities

·       
Attend
and actively contribute to the ReLAB-HS communications community of practice
with colleagues from other ReLAB-HS countries

·       
Ensure
that all communications are in line with the ReLAB-HS branding strategy and
marking plan and the country-level communications strategy and plan

·       
Assist
in drafting, editing, and translating publications, articles, presentations,
and other written pieces

·       
Support
ReLAB-HS Uganda Project Manager to consolidate and format inputs for required
quarterly narrative reports and draft success stories for quarterly narrative
reports as required

·       
Perform
other related duties as needed

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International
Relations/Public Affairs, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, or relevant
field

·       
A
minimum of three years of relevant experience in outreach and communications
work with an international NGO

·       
Demonstrated
planning and organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines and
multi-task

·       
Excellent
oral, written communication, and presentation skills in English

·       
Proficient
in the use of social media

·       
Proficient
in filming and photography

·       
Flexibility
and willingness to work as a team member and independently

·       
Strong
interpersonal skills and ability to work with both internal and external
partners in a multicultural environment.

·       
Excellent
computer skills and ability to use standard technology packages such as Adobe
Suite and Microsoft Office Suite

·       
Willingness
to travel when needed for project activities

 

Preferred
Qualifications:

·       
Experience
in a communications role on a USAID-funded project
