Job Summary: The
Project Officer– Energy and Environment will oversee and ensure that all
activities related to the project are implemented in a timely and efficient
manner according to the agreed LWF Uganda, and Donor Guidelines, and provide
leadership and coordination for all aspects related to project activities in
the designated Sub-Program.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Implement
all planned project activities with expertise and in a manner that leads to
attainment of the project goals and outcomes;
·
Keep
records of all project activities including project assets under custody/use,
beneficiary list, partner list, assets or inputs provided, activity and
monitoring reports, lists of PoC benefiting from the project, etc;
·
Supervises
project assistant to implement project activities. Agree clear performance
objectives for all direct reports in appraisal and ensuring all team members
have appropriately set objectives, and that appraisal are undertaken in a
timely manner. Be responsible for staff development coaching and mentoring to
enhance the capacity of staff;
·
Regularly
develop and share monthly activity plans with the Energy, Environment and WASH
Coordinator;
·
Ensure
100% implementation of the planned project activities on a monthly basis and
that budgets are not under and over spent;
·
Develop
activity and budget tracking tool, and use on a monthly basis to track and
report on activity and budget management;
·
Support
in collaboration and tabulation on a regular basis field data on project
activities carried out and undertake impact assessment using participatory
approaches for all beneficiaries to determine the relevance and impact of the
assistance;
·
Ensure
that proper mapping of project beneficiaries is done & information shared
in time. Regular visit to all beneficiary sites where project activities are
undertaken, checks on progress, offers support as directed by the project
manager in line with the project objectives;
·
In
collaboration with the PMER unit, lead in development of Tools and ensure effective
deployment and use of the Survey CTO.
·
Take
lead in the development of LWF environment and energy interventions scope and
ensuring linkages with other stakeholders
·
Lead
in identifying and
facilitating environment and
energy and climate change partner engagements including with
development partners, civil society, government and private sector alongside fostering necessary
rapport with other
relevant stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration programme implementation
·
Be
responsible for the planning and implementation of relevant trainings as well
as follow up and mentoring of training participants in close cooperation with
other partners
·
Facilitate
strategic environment and energy processes and promote the sharing of lessons
and experiences with partners.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management,
Agroforestry, Sustainable Energy, Natural Resource Management or Community
Forestry.
·
Additional
training in community development, socio-economic development and sustainable
livelihoods is an added advantage
·
Possession
of a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management or Monitoring and
Evaluation is an added advantage.
·
A
minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience, including experience on
sunflower and sesame value chains, and working with local communities.
·
Demonstrable
past experience in promoting environmental management, agroforestry and climate
change adaptation interventions with a reputable organization
·
Ability
to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks while working as part of a
team, good planning and organizational skills coupled with problem solving
capabilities, a strong self-starter with ability to take initiative are highly
desirable for this position
·
Good
interpersonal and communication skills, and with ability to work sensitively
with people from a variety of social backgrounds
