access to justice. IJM has been delivering ground-breaking partnerships with
justice sector actors and governments globally for over 20 years, offering
collaborative casework, mentoring and system reform to ensure that justice
systems work for all, especially the vulnerable and marginalized.
Job Summary: IJM is seeking a Programme Associate to
provide support across its delivery of multiple donor funded programmes. These
are focused on strengthening the capacity of justice service providers across
Uganda to improve their response to instances of Violence Against Women (VAW),
Violence Against Children (VAC) and Harmful Practices (HP).
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Programme
Management Support
·
Organize,
compile and process information from donors, Regional Office, and programme
team, as inputs to various databases and documents
·
Support
in programme planning and design for activities with implementing partners,
including contributing to the preparation of budgets, programme and work plans
·
Support
the Programme Manager in the maintenance of programme tools including updating
them on regular basis.
·
Provide
support and guidance to field team and help in coordination of various field
activities
·
Provide
high-quality editing and formatting for program related documents intended for
external audiences, including but not limited to communication materials and
donor reports
·
Work
closely with relevant Task Leads to improve information management processes
·
Ensure
to maintain and update the program documentation archiving system in
collaboration with Task leads and the programme Manager
·
Support
program staff in organizing and managing workshops or trainings as required
·
Identify
potential case studies or best practices that can be utilized by IJM
·
Prepare
outreach content including digital stories, newsletters, factsheets etc.
·
Identify
sources and gather and compile data and information for the preparation of
documents, guidelines, speeches and position papers.
·
Contribute
to MERL reports on Programme implementation.
·
Take up
any other responsibilities assigned by the Programme Manager
Administrative and
Financial Management Support to the Programme team
·
Support
the Programme Team in the implementation of the control mechanisms for
development projects through monitoring of budget preparation and
modifications.
·
Prepare
required budget revisions, revision of project award and project status,
determination of unutilized funds, operational and financial close of a project
·
Provide
necessary information for the audit of programmes/projects and support
implementation of audit recommendations
·
Support
the Programme team in the tracking and reporting on mobilized resources.
Facilitation of
Knowledge Building and Knowledge Sharing
·
Support
synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices related to programme management
·
Support
synthesis of lessons learned and best practices in programme finance
·
Sound
contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice
·
Support
organization of training for the office staff and partners on programme and
operations related issues.
·
Support
IJM Communications teams in Development of Program Communications and Knowledge
& Awareness material.
Key Deliverables
·
Preparation
of quarterly programmatic reports for IJM and Donors
·
Contribution
to and finalisations of Workplans and Donor Project budgets
·
Periodic
program support to field implementation teams
·
Attend
Donor related meetings
·
Make
presentation at conferences and workshops
·
Review
and update of monthly implementation plans (Financial & Programmatic)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
applicant must hold a Masters Degree in Law, International Development,
management, Education, Programme management, communications, journalism, social
sciences, or related fields
·
Project
management Training and Certification is highly desirable
·
A
minimum of five years of experience in programme management and/or coordination
·
Experience
in Program reporting is a plus
·
Strong
organizational skills, ability to take initiative and solve problems/deliver
results on time
·
Experience
of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues within and from
different organizations and cultures
·
Experience
in communication, reporting, documentation, publication in relation to the
NGO/Humanitarian sector is desirable
·
Experience
working with large donors, like the UN, USAID, PEPFAR, EU and other Foundations
is essential.
·
Familiarity
with principles and current approaches to MERL in development programs using
both quantitative and qualitative methods
·
Familiarity
with the working of justice service providers within the formal and informal
justice systems. Experience with justice service providers in Uganda is
desirable.
