About US:

VVOB —Education for
development is a non-profit organisation that focuses on improving the quality
of education WOB partners with Ministries of Education at national and
sub-national levels, and with public education institutions in nine countries
globally. Through the provision of technical assistance, the capacity of
national governments and local education authorities for the design and
implementation of education policies and/or innovations is improved.

VVOB has its
headquarters in Brussels (Belgium), and became operational in Uganda in 2019
WOB has offices in Kampala and in Gulu and is expecting to set up field offices
in Arua and Isingiro soon.

 

Job Summary:  The Operations Manager will be responsible for
managing, organising and executing our, financial, HR, Procurement, logistics,
IT and administration systems. You will optimize and prioritize these systems
to support the programmes operations and organizational growth.

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

Organizational
leadership

·        
You
provide strategic and operation leadership for the local operations systems and
promote and champion change where necessary;

·        
You conceptualize
financial and HR systems and policies in function of the development of VVOB in
Uganda;

·        
You
contribute to the success of VVOB today and tomorrow by empowering personal and
team growth and actively promoting and supporting a positive organizational
culture;

·        
You
provide on-the-job mentoring, coaching and capacity development for all members
(currently 6) of the finance, operations, and administration teams.

Procurement,
Logistics and Administration management

·        
You
oversee the procurement, logistics and administrative functions of VVOB Uganda
ensuring value, efficiency, and compliance of the organisation to local and
global policies.

·        
You
review and manage contracts with suppliers and staff, and ensure their
compliance with relevant laws.

Financial management

·        
You
oversee, maintain and strengthen effective systems and procedures for financial
management, reporting and auditing that fit within the broader global
organization and compliance with donor regulations;

·        
You
ensure that all finance policies and procedures are documented, aligned with
global standards, well communicated to teams and reflecting current practices;

·        
You
maintain relationships with relevant local authorities and tax bodies.

HR management

·        
You
maintain and strengthen effective systems and procedures for HR management
including recruitment, onboarding, growth and development of staff and teams,
and separation.

·        
You
ensure that all HR policies and procedures are documented, aligned with global
standards and local law, well communicated to teams and reflecting current
practices.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
A
minimum of eight years of operational management experience at organizations in
a mid-senior level position with annual budgets in excess of USD $1 million;

·        
You have
a relevant Master degree (business management, accounting, law, public
administration or related field);

·        
You
possess at least 6 years of experience with international development
cooperation and with managing projects and programmes for multiple donors;

·        
You have
experience in leading multicultural teams;

·        
Strong
and proven management and leadership skills with a track record of success in
managing effective teams and leading and motivating a diverse group of
professional staff;

·        
You are
IT savvy, and have experience with book keeping software, Microsoft Office
(with advanced Excel skills), and experience in managing IT systems;

·        
Experience
in leading teams through change.

 

NB: This is national
position, open to Ugandan Nationals.
