Job Summary:  The joint CEO’s are responsible for leading
the development and execution of the bank’s strategy, overseeing planning and
management, upholding high standards of governance and corporate citizenship,
accounting to all our stakeholders, and ensuring that we deliver value to our
shareholders, customers and staff.

 

Job Purpose

·       
To carry
out valuations on residential, commercial or industrial property, and organise
its sale or rent and advises on investment, development and management of
properties.

·       
To value
and render quick and accurate professional opinion, expertise, and information
to the company on/of company properties as well as those offered as collateral
security.

·       
Develop,
implement and drive the valuation strategy for the company, in order to support
the achievement of the company’s overall business strategy and goals; and
ensure alignment with the overall strategy

·       
Take
overall accountability for the leadership, management and delivery of all company
valuation services in order to meet the business requirements

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Strategic Execution

·       
Assist
the General Manager in defining the valuation specific strategies and goals as
they relate to overall operations strategy

·       
Maintain
an up to date awareness of the real estate valuation arena in the country,
including a knowledge of competitor practices, new market real estate
developments, current market rentals, etc

Customer Service
& Stakeholder Management

·       
Ensure
that the valuation team is effective and efficient in delivering practical,
timeous and cost-effective services that meet business needs and enable
improved business performance

·       
Join and
play a meaningful role in Real Estate associations in Uganda

·       
Build
sustainable relationships with all relevant external stakeholders (e.g.
property developers, landlords, engineers,) in order to secure the necessary
customer and non-customer facing properties – negotiate win-win property
contracts and assist their managers with their negotiations

·       
Identify,
implement and monitor all key related metrics and performance measures across
the team; this includes the delivery and monitoring of SLA’s (internal and
external providers)

Operational
Performance

·       
Documentation
management and control

·       
Undertake
lease and contract negotiations

·       
Managing
and resolving rental and lease related queries

Reporting and Cost
Management

·       
Report
on actual expenditure against budget, including variance reporting and
providing commentary on variances when necessary

·       
Develop
and monitor relevant Capex and Opex budgets, ensuring that all services are
delivered within the estimates defined in the Budgets

·       
Ensure
the appropriate billing and payment of external service providers is as per
work done, and mandate

·       
Ensures
effective, efficient and optimal utilisation of all resources (human and
capital) to be responsive to competitive pressures, changing market conditions,
client needs and business strategies

·       
Drive
and facilitate the appropriate recruitment, training and development

Resource
Utilisation

Control

·       
Proactively
and regularly report critical and exceptional valuation related information to
the General Manager.

·       
Ensure
that quality assurance processes are implemented, and the monitoring of quality
assurance is carried out across all in-country valuation services

·       
Assist
General Manager prepare valuation progress reports

·       
Assessment
of contract work and ensure it complies with the agreed and industry standards

·       
Quality
control to ensure value for money

Self Development

·       
Identifies
appropriate formal and occupational (informal) training needs and courses
(internal/external) to develop oneself

·       
Up-Skills
oneself regarding new products and procedures through attendance of
workshops/presentations and reading of internal and external communications.

People Management

·       
Provide
guidance to and manage the performance and behaviours of their teams, ensuring
high levels of motivation, competence and service orientation

·       
Identify
appropriate training and development courses and initiatives to enable the
team’s on-going growth and development

·       
Performance
Management, including recognition, reward and poor performance management

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate for the Stanbic Bank Manager Valuation employment opportunity
must hold a Degree in Land Economics or Valuation surveying

·       
Duly
registered surveyor (of Uganda) and holder of valid practicing certificate

·       
Good
understanding of construction industry of Uganda

·       
A
minimum of 4 years doing similar works

·       
Experience
in working in multi-discipline teams, fostering collaboration, team work and
the delivery of improved business performance

·       
Project
management experience

·       
Experience
in managing people (direct and indirect reports)

·       
Contractor
and vendor management

·       
Budget
and cost management

·       
Relationship
building across multiple locations and geographies

·       
Proper
understanding of the policy on premises matters

·       
Interpretation
of all the various construction drawings

·       
Detailed
understanding of the full range of Leasing and design services

·       
Up to
date business intelligence in Real Estate domain, in-country

·       
Contract
knowledge

·       
Project
and tender management

·       
Budgeting
and cost management principles and processes

·       
HR
process knowledge (including in-country requirements)

·       
Good
knowledge of building construction and management.

·       
Good
understanding of building maintenance in accordance with the approved Bank’s
specifications and procedures.

Knowledge of CAD programs
