Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·        
Manage
implementation of the SITES Strategic Communications Plan and collaborate with
the technical team on their roles in communications and stakeholder engagement

·        
Develop
communication tools (newsletters, pamphlets, project briefs) as needed and provide
news releases to radio, television, and electronic media and liaise with media
personnel to publicize

·        
Prepare
case studies and other Activity-related documentation, press releases, project
summaries, fact sheets, social media posts, and other communications materials
to highlight Activity successes and learnings

·        
Work
with technical managers to write Activity reports, success stories and lessons
learned, and train staff on effective photography

·        
Develop
an information resource database for SITES; collect and compile materials from
team members for sharing and submitting to USAID website (and GOU agency
websites, if required)

·        
Write
articles on SITES including technical notes, best practices, lessons learned
and contributions to USAID publications and local media outlets

·        
Contribute
to the development and preparation of annual work plans, quarterly reports, and
other reports to USAID; edit, format, and design these documents

·        
Promote
knowledge sharing through the organization’s processes, systems, and departments/units
by helping develop and strengthen links between them to facilitate exchange of
information

·        
Identify
and organize participation in key public events and campaigns that relate to
the Activity’s technical objectives

·        
Identify
and supervise external contractors to successfully implement the Activity’s
communications activities

·        
Complete
any other duties/activities in line with the Activity’s objectives, the
employee’s abilities, and as directed by their supervisor

·        
Identify
opportunities and support activities aimed at raising awareness about and the
profile of SITES

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The
ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in health communication,
journalism or related area 20%

·        
Post
graduate qualification with at least 3 years’ experience as technical writer,
technical editor or related assignment for large scale organizations 20%

·        
Strong
knowledge of HIV and health programming at national and community level with
analytic capability and demonstrated ability to process, analyze and document
technical health and HIV information – 15%

·        
Experience
with USAID or other US government funded development programs 15%

·        
Proven
English reading and writing with ability to use computer skills and graphics to
communicate complex health and HIV data and information to non-health audiences
– 15%

·        
Publication
in major health journals/publications on paper and web-based media, including
preparing technical briefs and presentations – 10%

·        
Good
event and time management with proven ability to meet tight deadlines – 5%
