About US:

Umeme Limited is
Uganda’s main electricity distribution company, listed on the Uganda Securities
Exchange and cross listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. The Company
operates a 20 year electricity distribution concession effective 1st March
2005, from the Government of Uganda. After the electricity sector reforms in
1999, Uganda adopted a single buyer electricity sector model, where Uganda
Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is the System Operator,
responsible for the purchase of electricity from all Independent Power
Producers, import and export of electricity and being Umeme’s sole supplier. As
an electricity distributor, Umeme is licensed to distribute and supply
electricity to customers. This mandate involves; operation, maintenance and
upgrade of electricity distribution infrastructure, electricity retail and
provision of related services.The sector is regulated by the Electricity
Regulatory Authority, whose mandate includes setting operating standards and
appropriate end user tariffs.

 

Job Summary:  The IT Datawarehouse Specialist will mainly design,
model, or implement corporate data warehousing activities. The incumbent will program
and configure warehouses of database information and provide support to
warehouse users.

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

·        
Develop
and implement data extraction procedures from other systems.

·        
Design,
configure, optimize, monitor, and maintain the Umeme data warehouse and in
doing so provide an effective, reliable, and secure data warehouse environment.

·        
Provide
or coordinate troubleshooting support for data warehouses.

·        
To
manage the implementation of identified data warehouse projects based on a
broad and detailed knowledge of current and emerging data warehouse
technologies and to provide technical input into projects undertaken by or
impacting on UMEME.

·        
To act
as a technical subject matter expert on technical issues as part of the
decision-making process for technical direction and procurement of new data
warehousing systems.

·        
Map data
between source systems, data warehouses, and data marts.

·        
Verify
the structure, accuracy, or quality of warehouse data.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The
ideal candidate for the Umeme IT Datawarehouse Specialist job placement must
hold a Degree in IT, Computer Science, or its equivalent.

·        
Technical
certification in Data warehouse management.

·        
Track
record in Data warehouse implementation & management.

·        
At least
8 years’ experience in Data warehouse management

·        
Experience
across the entire Data warehouse project lifecycle

·        
Previous
experience in the utility sector

·        
Experience
in SAP Business Warehouse
