Job Title:    Internal Auditor

Organization:  Humanity & Inclusion (Handicap

Duty Station:  Kampala,
Uganda

Basic Salary: UGX 2,208,949 /=

Reports to: Country Finance Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Under the supervision of the Country Finance Manager and in direct
coordination with Finance office, the Internal Auditor will;

Preparation of Final Accounts in line with the annual statutory audit

·       
Draft
final accounts including income statement, trial balance and balance sheet for
validation by the Finance Manager

Lead the audit processes for the mission

·       
Lead in
the revising accounting procedures and propose implementation plan

·       
Organize
for local audit preparation for the Uganda mission

·       
In
consultation with the Finance Manager respond to all local and HQ based audit
queries during audits.

·       
Prepare
an action plan for the implementation of the recommendations as per the
management letter and submit to the Finance Manager for validation

·       
In
consultation with Finance Manager assist Financial Controller HQ to respond to
queries on audits being conducted at HQ

·       
Provide
necessary documents during audits

·       
Disseminating
findings of the audit to relevant team members.

Lead in compliance checks for HI policies and procedures

·       
Conduct
comprehensive monthly check on the accountancy before the reports are sent to
Kenya and HQ

·       
Perform
internal checks and audits

·       
Periodically
update the Uganda mission staffs on the policies and procedures

·       
Undertake
a comprehensive analysis on coding of expenses in the system both GAP codes,
donor codes and HI internal codes.

·       
Provided
feedback to the finance team on compliance checks and internal audit in order
to create consistence.

·       
Review
financial documents to ensure that there is consistence in the templates used.

Partner capacity assessment and compliance check

·       
Lead and
follow up the due diligence process for partners and report to the Finance
Manager

·       
Participate
in defining financial aspects of the partnership contracts including budgets

·       
Contribute
to capacity building of partners or sub grantees by providing systematic
feedback on their reports and trainings if needed.

·       
Ensure
agreements to be signed between HI and partners conform with donor requirements
as far as the administrative and financial requirements are concerned.

·       
Check
and revise existing agreements with partners where necessary at any stage of
implementation

·       
Review
and submit validated summary financial reports data and supporting documents
provided by partners to the Programme Accountant to incorporate the same in the
HI financial system as per the timeframe.

·       
Check
and verify partner accountancy based on donor regulations

·       
Closely
monitor the financial health and capacity of the partners

Respect HI identity, rules and policies In coordination with the Human resources manager and Finance Manager:

·       
Know,
understand, apply and respect HI code of conduct and ethics, HI mandate and
values, HI rules and operating procedure, HI policies (child protection policy,
policy and mechanism for the prevention of and fight against bribery, the protection
of beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse policy) and make sure they
are known, understood, applied and respected by its team

Know,
understand, apply and respect HI security rules and make sure they are known,
understood and applied by her/his team.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The ideal
candidate for the Humanity & Inclusion Internal Auditor job must hold a Bachelor’s
degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field;

·       
A
minimum professional qualification of CPA Level II is a must

·       
At least
3 years’ progressive work experience in an Audit Firm

·       
Experience
in a similar position within the humanitarian context

·       
A strong
accounting experience, and experience in dealing with complex budgets, is an
added advantage.

Condition:

Starting Date: 11th January 2021

Length of contract: 1-year Contract Renewable

Basic Salary: Ugx 2,208,949
