About USAID Project:
The Social and
Behavioral Change Activity (SBCA) is a five-year program implemented through a
cooperative agreement between the United States Agency for International
Development (USAID/Uganda) and CCP. The vision of USAID’s Social and Behavioral
Change Activity is a Uganda where individuals and communities are not just
healthy, but resilient, supported by strong adaptable systems and institutions
to lead productive lives.
The SBC Activity
supports the Government of Uganda (GOU) and US Government (USG) implementing
partners to design and implement SBC initiatives that contribute towards
reduction in maternal and child mortality, malaria prevalence, total fertility
rate, new HIV infections, TB prevalence and improved nutrition outcomes,
resilience and improved SBC systems and expertise.
Job Summary: The Graphic Designer will support the STA-SBC
inthe development of various materials and campaigns, ensuring that they
respond to audience needs and project objectives. This position reports to the
SBCA Media Specialist and involves 20% in country travel.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
·
Participate
in audience exploration sessions including formative research.
·
Participate
in the conceptualization and development of various SBC interventions.
·
Translate
conceptual thinking into variable design concepts and materials.
·
Create
mock-up prototypes.
·
Design
and create layouts for both print and digital materials.
·
Incorporate
feedback from SBCA program and research teams, government, partners, and
audiences into draft materials.
·
Ensure
design consistency and brand identity across all materials and campaigns.
·
Determine
graphic and color directions based on trends and audience needs.
·
Uncover
new ways to incorporate emerging and new media formats into materials and
campaigns.
·
Co-ordinate
production and timelines of print jobs.
·
Research
and keep abreast of emerging design trends and practices.
·
Ensure
adherence to SBCA Branding and Marking Guidelines.
·
Perform
any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The applicant
must hold a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, design, or a related
field
·
At least
two to five years of experience in a similar position.
·
Portfolio
of extensive designs used in successful SBC or marketing campaigns.
·
Proficient
with Adobe Creative Suite and knowledge of video editing.
·
Thorough
understanding of the color, design, and typographic principles.
·
Exceptional
creativity and innovation
·
Experience
with both print and electronic media.
·
Ability
to provide quick turnaround and meet tight deadlines
·
Excellent
IT skills
·
Attention
to detail
·
Time
management and organizational skills.
