International (HPI) is a medical services provision company providing services
in Uganda.
Job Summary: HPI is looking for a highly qualified,
experienced Gender & Child Protection Officer for one of her projects
undertaken in Hoima, effective 01st December, 2020.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
·
The
project officer for Gender and Child Protection will implement mitigation
activities to potential risks of the project activities on gender relations
including sexual harassment and gender-based violence, and violence against
children.
·
He/she
should ensure that the contractors’ management plans to mitigate gender and
child abuse risks are effectively implemented, and any emerging case of sexual
harassment, gender – based violence and child abuse (Violence Against Children)
are systematically tracked, referred, investigated, followed up and reported
on.
·
He/ she
should be able to work with Community Development Officials like Labour
Officer, Probation Officers, Gender Officers at District and Sub County levels.
He/ she should be able to engage with different stakeholders including Local
Councils, Uganda Police and civil society organizations in the implementation
of gender and child protection activities related to the project.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social
Administration, Social Sciences with specialization in Sociology, Social
Administration, Anthropology, Adult and Community Education, Gender and
Development, Development Studies, Community Psychology, Law, among others.
·
At least
three years’ experience in similar assignment at community level.
·
No track
of criminal record and she/he should be willing to stay in the community
(Buliisa or Hoima or Kikuube) during the project period.
Competencies
·
Knowledge
and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to Gender and
Child Protection.
·
Takes
responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives and ensuring the equal
participation of women and men in all areas of work.
·
Good
communication skills to liaise negotiate and advocate with key stakeholders,
·
Proven
ability in working in a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural team.
·
Takes
ownership of all responsibilities and honours commitments;
·
Client
Focus and considers all those to whom services are provided to be “clients” and
seeks to see things from clients’ point of view and represent HPI well at all
time.
·
Good
Computer and report writing skills.
·
Ability
to work independently under minimal supervision
