ACET is a Christian
AIDS charitable service organization, locally registered NGO that started it
operation in Uganda in 1990. ACET primary goal is a continent where all lives
are of equal value and living to their full potential. In Uganda ACET is
operational in 5 regional offices located in Pader, Mbale, Gulu, Kitgum and
Kampala as the head office. Each office has a clear emphasis ranging from
livelihood and economic empowerment, Education Support, primary health care and
Psychosocial Support programme.

 

About Project:

ACET Pader, through
funding from Kindernothife (KNH) – Germany, is undertaking a Self Help Group
(SHG) Approach for 7 years in Northern Uganda under the new strategy of
transforming ACET Uganda from typical community development model into social
business model. The approach is being implemented in Ogom Sub County Pader
district, where it was piloted since October 2018. The approach targets rural
women and aims at holistic empowerment of the poorest of the poor in the
communities, through its three pillars of; economic, social and political
aspect.

 

Job Summary:  The Project Officer – SHG/Livelihood will provide
technical support in the implementation of the livelihood project with more
focus on SHG approach to the vulnerable communities of Pader district.

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

·        
Organize
quarterly learning and review meeting for community facilitators (CFs) and
other stakeholders

·        
Participate
together with the community facilitators in the formation process and
strengthening of SHG/CLA groups.

·        
Draw/oversee
drawing of monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual work plans

·        
Ensure
that activity reports are written and filed for every activity by both project
staff and CFs.

·        
Keep an
updated log of current project statistics.

·        
Meet
with the accountant every two weeks to map out expenditure patterns and options

·        
Monitor
cash flows related to project activities to inform the finance commentary in
your periodic reports.

·        
Monitor
and track the performance of the project as it should be in line with the
agreed indicators

·        
Carry
out a quarterly skills audit for project implementing team and submit a
competence report to the Regional Manager.

·        
Periodically
appraise each of the project  team (CFs
& volunteers)  directly supervised by
you

·        
Build
the capacity of the CFs on the SHG approaches and any other areas of need that
may arise during the implementation.

·        
Oversee
and develop strategy for the proper expansion and management of the goat farm.

·        
Attend
and contribute to a monthly management team meeting with the Regional Manager
and administrator at the office.

·        
Attend
district coordination meetings and carryout any other duties that may be
assigned to you by the supervisor

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness, Social Science,
Development studies or any other related field. Post graduate in Monitoring and
Evaluation or Project planning will be an added advantage.

·        
Knowledge
in value chain development, income generating idea is desirable.

·        
A
minimum of two (2) years’ practical field experience working in holistic
communities with livelihoods practices and any other community development
related field.

·        
Strong
personal relationship with Christ Jesus and demonstrate willingness to live in
a ‘spiritual community ‘and able to demonstrate the LOVE as Jesus did  for everyone without  exception

·        
Demonstrated
interpersonal skill, mobilization skills and proactive problem solving skills.

·        
Experience
in implementing SHG approach, Microfinance, Agri-business concept will be an
added advantage.

·        
Excellent
oral and written communication skills, ability to interpret written documents
in Lou and English

·        
Good
computer skills with MS office and proven documentation and report writing
skills

·        
Ability
to learn new concepts/ideas and willingness to work and live in a rural
community environment.
