the quality of life of orphans and other vulnerable children.

 

About USAID ICYD Activity:

The USAID Integrated
Child and Youth Development Activity (USAID ICYD Activity) aims to improve
learning outcomes, advance HIV epidemic control in Uganda, and ensure that
children and youth can lead resilient, healthy, and productive lives. The USAID
ICYD Activity will deliver critical HIV/GBV/violence prevention and response
services to children and youth and their families in communities, clinics, and schools.
Within USAID’s Journey to Self-Reliance Framework, USAID ICYD Activity will
build the operational and technical capacity of four Ugandan Primary Local
Partner (PLP) organizations to become direct recipients of USG funding within
two years while strengthening government capacity to deliver core services to
children within an integrated referral network and case management system.

 

Job Summary:  The District Program Assistant will be
responsible for smooth implementation of project activities within the project
communities of Kotido. The District Program Assistant will be supervised by the
OVC/Case Management Manager, with matrix reporting to the Social Protection
& Livelihood Officer and the SGBV Community Engagement Coordinator for
technical support.

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

·        
Implement
weekly, monthly and quarterly workplans aligned to the ICYD Project.

·        
Sensitize
community leadership on the different ICYD thematic areas.

·        
Conduct
participant identification exercises for the different activities in the
community.

·        
Mobilize
participants for planned activities in respective locations for technical teams
to work with.

·        
Organize
and supervise community trainings in line with the approved work plan and
budget.

·        
Lead
and/or support respective community members to lead community dialogues based
of the different technical areas.

·        
Coordinate
with all sectors in ICYD to ensure complementary approaches, monitor
implementation of project activities and document learning and success stories.

·        
Collaborate
with District Program Officers to ensure team success.

·        
Ensure
that program activities apply gender equity and youth empowerment principles
and meet the varying needs of men and boys; women and girls; and other
vulnerable groups.

·        
Responsible
for data gathering, data validation, quality control and timely data submission
including gender and age disaggregated data.

·        
Troubleshoot
monitoring and evaluation challenges for proactive problem solving with support
of team leader and M&E team.

·        
Actively
documenting best practices and lessons learned to share with team during
routine monitoring, coordination meetings and other learning opportunities.

·        
Prepare
and submit timely and quality weekly and monthly reports.

·        
Supervise
Para Social Workers and Enumerators.

·        
Promote
ICYD Activity visibility at both Community and Sub County level.

·        
Ensure
establishment and maintenance of relationships with communities, village
councils and local government in ICYD target areas.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The
Program Assistant must hold an Advanced Training Certificate or Diploma.

·        
One to
two years’ experience in conducting community mobilization, training, and
networking.

·        
Experience
in capacity building with communities in Kotido.

·        
Experience
and skills in working with Implementing Partners, government partners, and
local community.

·        
Computer
literacy skills.

·        
Ability
to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit is desired.
