About US:

The Infectious
Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization.
IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and
Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted
on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over
41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May
2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health
Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of
Health.

 

Job Summary:  The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration
(IDRC) seeks to hire a suitable candidate for the position of Costing Officer
for the 3HP study to be based in Kampala. The Successful candidate will be
reporting to the Study Coordinator.

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

·        
Conduct
data collection, entry and analysis related to the costing activities of the
3HP Options Trial including:

o   Gathering retrospective/prospective data to
quantify resources and unit costs in the implementation of the study

o   Conducting observations of activities and
time requirements for scheduled study activities.

o   Interview study participants to gather data
on their socio-economic status and costs of =seeking care.

o   Entering the cost data in Excel data sets,
REDCap and performing basic quality checks

·        
Collect
data relevant to budgets and activity costs;

o   Working in close consultation with clinic
staff and administrators to quantify resources used to provide 3HP Options
Trial services.

o   Gathering expenditure data from various
sources (e.g., administrative records, study budget and expenditure, etc.);

o   Identifying other information sources when
cost data is not available.

·        
Taking
lead on responding to study data queries as specified in the monthly quality
assurance (QA) report.

·        
Submission
of weekly updates and quarterly reviews to your supervisor and the costing
team.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The
ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Cost Accounting, Finance, or
Economics

·        
At least
two years of work experience in a similar field.

·        
Applicants
must be highly competent in MS Excel (including formatting, formulas, and
auditing) and MS Word.

·        
Candidates
must be conversant with costing concepts and skilled in program costing methods

·        
Knowledge
of and strong interest in TB cost-effectiveness issues

·        
The
successful candidate will be required to take up the position immediately.
