depression among women of all ages in Africa, where access to mental health
treatment is extremely limited. To date, StrongMinds has treated more than
70,000 women with depression in Uganda and Zambia. We are the only organization
scaling a solution to depression in Africa with a potential to serve millions
in the next ten years.

 

Job Summary:  StrongMinds Uganda is in the process of
procuring a new vehicle Landcruiser Prado TX and we are looking for a competent
Driver/Logistician with over 3 years hands on experience driving a similar
vehicle.

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

·        
Drive
SMU Landcruiser Prado TX vehicle to collect and deliver staff, documents and
goods to their destinations safely and timely and ensure the vehicle safety at
all times in line with SMU Fleet Management policy and guidelines. This
includes ensuring that safety belts are worn at all times, there is no smoking
in the vehicle and that no alcohol is consumed before driving.

·        
Follow
travel instructions and observe all traffic regulations/ laws in place, where
needs arise advise on the possible breach of traffic regulations/ laws in line
with SMU policy and guidelines.

·        
Keep the
vehicle in good mechanical and functional condition including but not confined
to regular fueling, servicing and cleaning of the interior and exterior.

·        
Ensure
that the vehicle tools, spare wheel and emergency vehicle spares are kept in
the vehicle and in good order at all times.

·        
Ensure
that the vehicle is mechanically attended to and is properly checked for oil,
water, fan belt tension, break fluid, etc before leaving for tours.

·        
Perform
regular preventive maintenance and minor repairs where possible.

·        
To
ensure that all required documentation for administrative use such as mileage
usage, vehicle logbook, fuel usage and trip authorization tracking information
is kept up to date and accurate at all times in line with SMU Fleet Management

·        
Ensure
that the road license and insurance are valid and renewed on time in line with
traffic regulations and SMU Fleet Management

·        
Report
any damage to the vehicle or defects arising at the earliest possible time to
the Line Manager

·        
Support
the Administration team in carrying out small logistics and Administrative
tasks as delegated by the Line Manager.

·        
Submit
monthly reports on vehicle movements and mechanical conditions using a template
provided by the supervisor

·        
To
ensure that all dues are met in good time and/or regularly renewed e.g. Third
party and Comprehensive Insurance, Parking Fees, Registration and Licenses

·        
Ensure
maximum security of vehicle and its accessories under your charge

·        
Ensure
timely servicing of the vehicle

·        
Working
with the Administrator to ensure that the vehicle is always fully and
comprehensively insured.

·        
Maintaining
an organized vehicle travel schedule

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The
Driver/Logistician must hold an “O” level certificate with valid driving
license with Classes B, DL, CM is a must.

·        
A
minimum of 5 years’ working experience with legally recognized
organizations/companies; three (3) of which you must have hands on experience
driving Landcruiser Prado TX is a must.

·        
Defensive
Driving certificate & skills is a must

·        
A
certificate and experience in basic motor vehicle operations/vehicle mechanics
is a must

·        
Should
be able to drive both manual and automatic vehicles is a must

·        
A person
with high integrity with good command of both spoken and written English with capacity
to use the computer (Word, Excel, Email etc) is a must.

·        
Flexible
and willing to work outside normal office hours

·        
Knowledge
of the traffic laws and rules

·        
Knowledge
of basic Procurement and Administrative roles
