comprehensive interventions to improve HIV outcomes and the quality of life for
orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and families affected by HIV and poverty.
Rooted at the grassroots level, WEI/Bantwana builds the capacity of communities,
civil society and governments to coordinate and deliver integrated
comprehensive services for vulnerable children and families while strengthening
structures and service delivery across the HIV continuum of care.

 

About USAID ICYD Project:

The USAID Integrated
Child and Youth Development Activity (USAID ICYD Activity) aims to improve
learning outcomes, advance HIV epidemic control in Uganda, and ensure that
children and youth have the opportunity to lead resilient, healthy and
productive lives. The USAID ICYD Activity will deliver critical
HIV/GBV/violence prevention and response services to children and youth and
their families in communities, clinics, and schools. Within USAID’s Journey to
Self-Reliance Framework, USAID ICYD Activity will build the operational and
technical capacity of four Ugandan Primary Local Partner (PLP) organizations to
become direct recipients of USG funding within two years while strengthening
government capacity to deliver core services to children within an integrated
referral network and case management system. WEI/Bantwana is a leader in OVC
programming and organizational capacity development in high HIV prevalence
countries in southern and eastern Africa.

 

Job Summary:  The OVC Transition Officer will support
coordination and tracking of OVC transition progress under the supervision of
WEI/Bantwana Senior Technical Advisor, OVC. This short term employment
engagement will last for 2 months (October 1 – November 30 2020).

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Support
the Senior Technical Advisor (STA), OVC and USAID ICYD Activity team with all
OVC transition activities across all activity zones, starting with transition
of 4 CDC transition districts by October 1.

·       
Consolidate
all information related to OVC transition from outgoing USAID/CDC and incoming
USAID ICYD mechanisms

·       
Develop
and track timelines for specific deliverables during the OVC Transition process

·       
Support
STA with logistics and follow up from all meetings and support activities
related to OVC transition at national, districts and community levels, as
needed.

·       
Support
development and coordination of electronic transition of OVC beneficiaries into
online/cloud platform

·       
Support/draft
written follow up communications from outgoing to incoming IPs, as needed

·       
Support
other USAID ICYD Activity start up activities, as needed

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge of current USAID OVC programming
in Uganda

·       
Experience
coordinating and managing complex processes with multiple partners, local
government and community

·       
Highly
organized and demonstrated experience managing complex processes under tight
deadlines

·       
Excellent
interpersonal skills an enjoys working with multidisciplinary teams

·       
Solid
writing skills in English

·       
Familiarity
and comfort with M&E tools, excel spreadsheets and databases

·       
Willingness
to travel to districts to support the transition process, as needed.
