Job Summary: Reporting
to the Director of Human Resource and Administration, the National Safeguarding
Manager ensures that Save the Children’s safeguarding policies and standards
are effectively applied and upheld in the Uganda CO operations for both
children and adults. He/she oversees activities to keep children and adults
safe from all forms of abuse and exploitation in all of our work across the
country. The Safeguarding Manager works with a team to reinforce safeguarding
awareness, prevention, reporting and investigation. The role holder ensures
that adequate procedures and practices are in place and builds capacity of
staff and ensures compliance and accountability to management and donors.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the Save the Children International National Safeguarding Manager
job placement must have five years work experience in (Child) Protection,
GBV/PSEA or related field, in an (I)NGO;

·       
Experience
in child protection/safeguarding practice in humanitarian setting;

·       
Leadership
experience within an INGO or similar other organisation working with vulnerable
communities and children or with similar experience within Save the Children;

·       
Excellent
written and verbal communications skills, and an ability to produce good
quality documents, reports, information for a variety of audiences and
communicate good practices;

·       
Experience   of  
planning   and   undertaking  
training  
programmes/workshops   in   protection/ safeguarding at a range of
levels (e.g. field workers, managers, senior managers and decision makers)

·       
Experience
of managing as well as undertaking complex child protection/safeguarding
investigations and or disciplinary investigations

·       
Multi-disciplinary
experience of working successfully with senior managers in other parts of
own/partner’s organisation to deliver major operational change with a track
record of delivering results to high standards.

·       
Knowledge
of and commitment to children’s rights.

·       
Influencing
skills, including ability to deal with people at all levels with credibility,
tact, and diplomacy).

·       
Self-sufficient,
proactive self-motivating work styles.

·       
Ability
to provide long distance support and establish supportive relationships and
networks.

·       
Ability
to deliver results against demanding timetables and in the face of competing
demands.

·       
Ability
to travel and work within challenging environments.
