Job Summary:  The Manager- Alternative Delivery Channels
will provide general oversight over transactions monitoring as well as day
to-day reconciliations of all channel and Backoffice related accounts, monitor
and manage all float Accounts while ensuring efficiency, ensuring acceptable
levels of uptime is achieved for all channel related systems. Managing Bank to
stakeholder relationship for all direct third parties related to the channels
function.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Management of
Alternative Delivery Channels

·       
Establish and monitor servicing relationships with internal and external parties,
including back- and front-office staff, and service providers.

·       
Coordinate with the units developing and integrating
alternative delivery channels for Bank products and services in a way of
testing and making sure that all the
required Backoffice modalities like transaction reporting and descriptions are
accurate.

·       
Ensure that all transactions are posted accurately
as well as accounts reconciled in a timely manner as per the requirements s
tipulated in the Bank reconciliation
processes and policy.

·       
Support the Branch in all activities relating to
channels to ensure that business workflows are in place.

·       
Lead the analysis of existing reconciliation
processes in order to assess the strengt
h of the controls and identify areas for improvement.

·       
Providing support and assistance to individual team
members. Assist in training, staff development, performance reviews and
disciplinary actions.

·       
Work with business to advise on ways to generate
transaction revenue and reduction of costs through improved customer
experience.

·       
Approval of different transactions, reversals and
settlements within approved limit in the core Banking Systems.

·       
Perform
other relevant responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

Unit planning and
Management

·       
Plan, develop and oversee the implementation of
annual work plans and operational activities, systems and procedures in line
with Bank of Uganda Reg
ulations,
bank policies and customer expectations.

·       
Preparing budgets and cost management and control

Operational
Efficiency and income growth:

·       
Develop unique and value adding strategies and that
lead to achievement of set income targets, in the most
efficient way using delivery channels in
line with the Banks strategic initiatives/plan as well as reviewing, monitoring
and communicating performance to the stake holders.

·       
Suggesting/advising on array of new services and
implementation ensuring that t
hese
fit within the Bank’s mission.

·       
Develop strategies that allow the Bank to operate at
its desired operational efficiency using available delivery channels.

Risk Management and
Compliance:

·       
Identify risk factors and establish frameworks to
mitigate
risk in the unit making
sure there is a faster mechanism in place to enable quick and early detection
and escalation of issues when they arise.

·       
Ensure compliance with Operations policies and
procedures, BOU regulations, budget parameters, and procedure
s and the risk management framework
operational within the Bank.

·       
Responsible for audit, risk and BOU findings
/reports, and helping resolve issues raised as well as ensuring no repeat
findings.

Occasional Duties

·       
Present
Weekly reconciliations reports/schedule/status to the Head of
Operations/Finance

·       
Attend
weekly unit/ departmental meetings.

·       
Performance
appraisals using the balanced score cards.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Statistics, business
administration or related fields.

·       
Five
years of experience in the Banking field. At least 2 years of which are in
managerial/Supervisory.

·       
Very
good computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and
PowerPoint;

·       
Excellent
writing skills, and ability to explain technical accounting issues to
subordinates and colleagues;

·       
Good
team player and excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

·       
Demonstrated
competences for accuracy, attention to detail, integrity and update knowledge
of reconciliation guidelines and automatic reconciliation tools.

·       
Knowledge
of the Ugandan banking regulations and statutory requirements.

·       
Analytical,
numerical and mathematical skills involve reading and interpreting financial
reports, third party statements, core banking General ledger statements and
business management skills to a high level.
