About US:
The National
Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) is an autonomous statutory
body established under the NITA-U Act 2009, The Authority is under the general
supervision of the Ministry of Information Communications Technology and
National Guidance (MOICT&NG).
The National
Information Technology Authority, Uganda was established with a mandate to
coordinate, promote and monitor the development of IT in the context of social
and economic development of Uganda.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Manager Internal Audit, the
IT Auditor must be a self-driven individual who will be responsible for
conducting IT audits with in the NITA-U, highlighting issues relating to
internal controls & risks the NITA-U IT environment. The IT Auditor-must
possess an in-depth knowledge and capabilities to be able to execute
Information Technology audit assignments whilst bringing systematic approach to
examine and evaluate the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of NITA-U IT
related processes, internal control systems and recommend corrective actions,
improve efficiency and reduce operational costs where possible.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Support
in the development of a NITA-U Risk based Audit Plans by conducting IT related
assessment and evaluations of all NITA-U IT infrastructure.
·
Plan and
Conduct IT risk based audits and reviews of NITA-U systems, applications and IT
processes and report of the outcomes, in accordance to the Standards for the
Professional Practice of Internal Auditing; IT related Standards and other
relevant government statutes
·
Ensure
IT audit assignments are executed and finalised as assigned planned while
ensuring proper fillings of all working papers and audit evidence from start to
finish, inclusive of preplanning, field work and wrap up activities.
·
Constantly
monitor and follow up on all IT audit recommendations by use of Audit queries
matrixes and report on implementation of the recommendations for further
management
·
Assist
the Manager, Internal Audit in carrying out systems reviews and making
appropriate recommendations for improvement where required
·
Engage
and discuss IT audit findings and recommendations with departmental heads;
identify and communicate control issues noted, and offering practical
recommendations /solutions relevant to business and related risks;
·
Prepare
and submit timely, quality IT audit reports; engage in meetings with management
and Auditees and advise on improvements;
·
Update
the Internal Audit Manager on regular basis; on all IT executed assignments as
assigned and report any arising significant internal control issues;
·
Provide
Support on follow up and resolution of statutory and IT related audits queries
raised by the Office of Auditor General or any other statutory Agency
·
Undertake
any other tasks as assigned by Internal Audit Manager from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
applicant for the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) IT
Internal Auditor job must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science;
Information technology, or the equivalent from a recognized university.
·
Any of
the relevant Certification like CISA, ACCA; CPA; CIA is essential.
·
Membership
of recognised Professional IT Body, accounting/Auditing body is an added
advantage
·
Must be
hands on experience in the use of IT Audit tools in the execution of IT Audit
assignments
·
A
minimum of three years of experience as an IT auditor in a reputable company/
firm;
·
Demonstrated
experience in carrying out IT audit methodologies and reporting as well in IT
related work.
·
Use of
CAATs
·
Working
knowledge of IT (Auditing techniques and standards).
·
Interpersonal
skills
·
Strong
analytical skills with ability to pay attention to details;
·
Effective
verbal and written communications, including active listening skills and skill
in presenting findings and recommendations
·
Ability
to observe and understand IT business processes; ensure processes are
documented completely and accurately;
·
Good
communication skills, both verbal and written;
·
Team
player with excellent interpersonal skills;
