Job Title:    Program Officer, Economic
Inclusion and Fiscal Policy Program

(ISER)

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

 

About US:

The Initiative for
Social and Economic Rights (ISER) is a Ugandan based civil society organisation
that engages in advocacy and strategic litigation to realise economic, social
and cultural rights. Fulfillment of ISER’s objectives is implemented along
structural and thematic programmes that are introduced progressively as the
organization grows, although advocacy work on any emerging ESCR issue may be
done depending on the country context at a particular time.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Conduct
research, monitoring and documentation around economic inclusion, monetary and
fiscal policies and human rights.

·       
Develop
analyses of the annual budget and tax proposals.

·       
Train
community based organisations.

·       
Produce
factsheets and participate in budget advocacy.

·       
Conduct
advocacy and establish networks with local and international organizations
working on similar issues.

·       
Represent
ISER at meetings as delegated by the Program Manager.

·       
Assist
the program manager in preparing donor reports.

·       
Any
other duties that may be assigned by the Program Manager

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
Understands
basic economic concepts. A Bachelors degree in Economics is preferable.

·       
Past
experience working on issues of economic inclusion and human rights preferably
as they pertain to vulnerable groups.

·       
Strong
analytical skills.

·       
Excellent
verbal and written communication skills.

·       
Experience
conducting research, both qualitative and quantitative.

·       
Excellent
time management skills and the ability to multi task.

·       
Strong
interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team.

·       
Consistent
attention to detail.

·       
Capacity
to work independently.
