About Project:
PATH is launching a
new three-year initiative in Uganda to coordinate and monitor scale-up of
contraceptive self-injection in alignment with the country’s national plan,
which aims to complete scale-up across all sectors by end of December 2021.
PATH will work with the Ministry of Health (MOH)and partners on finalizing the
necessary tools and approaches, based on learnings from the significant body of
Uganda self-injection evidence, for scaling the practice through existing
in-country partner networks (USAID bilaterals, DFID global awards, and
bilaterals, UNFPA) and to monitor implementation and uptake.
This project will
run in parallel with the multi-country DMPA-SC Access Collaborative initiative
with partner organization John Snow International (JSI) Both the Uganda Scale
Up and the Access Collaborative (AC) investments will include dedicated
documentation and learning components, as well as expanded collaboration across
the global FP community.
Job Summary: PATH
is recruiting a Program Associate for the Uganda self-injection scale-up
project, with a focus on linking project work to global family planning
evidence and best practice, as well as knowledge management across the team.
S/He will report to the Uganda project Deputy Director.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Implement
and maintain project information and documentation systems for the Uganda
Director and Deputy Director. Ensure correct versions of all resources and
tools on self-injection scale-up and family planning best practices are stored
in global files and/or accessible to global team and partners.
·
Conduct
background research and compile global and local evidence and data needed to
ensure project activities align with established best practices, facilitate
high-quality outputs (e.g., policy briefs, training materials).
·
Contribute
to project report preparation and communication outputs, including donor
deliverables and reports, policy briefings, and/or Uganda self-injection
scale-up case study.
·
Provide
support to Uganda team members as needed in key technical areas, including
training, monitoring and evaluation, partner coordination, and policy advocacy.
·
Support
the team in implementing training activities on Family Planning including
DMPA-SC Self-Injection both at the national and district levels.
·
Work
closely with Senior Program Assistant to prepare materials for all PATH-led
partner, district engagements, trainings
·
Support
the project M&E team, including occasionally support on data entry.
·
Lead
preparation and documentation to support weekly Uganda team meetings.
·
Maintain
cordial and professional relationship with MOH colleagues and implementing
partners.
·
Perform
other duties as may be required and assigned by the program leads.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health,
statistics, demography or related field, with at least 2 years of experience in
a similar position.
·
Demonstrated
experience working in Family Planning, including working, up-to-date
understanding of key technical resources, tools, and data sources for global
family planning.
·
Past
experience organizing and maintaining files for a large organization or team
·
Excellent
communication skills. Fluency in English, written and oral required.
·
Experience
working with diverse stakeholders both in public and private sector is an added
advantage.
·
Advanced
computer skills in a Windows-based environment including Word, Outlook,
PowerPoint and Excel. Willingness to learn new software.
·
Ability
to work effectively both independently and as a member of a diverse team
·
Ability
to prioritize and multi-task in a fast pace environment
·
Exemplary
attention to detail
·
Certification
in Training of Trainers, statistics, qualitative/quantitative research methods,
data management and Monitoring and Evaluation will be considered an asset
