About US:

The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit
research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including
Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications
and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC
currently manages over 41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was
established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University
College of Health Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the
Uganda Ministry of Health.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Participate
in sensitization activities for the PMI Housing Modification Study,
specifically the pilot study

·       
Serve as
a liaison between the study team and communities participating in the pilot
study; households receiving housing modifications, personnel implementing local
construction work for the study (carpenters, masons, etc.) and suppliers of
materials for the housing modifications.

·       
Lead
field implementation of housing modifications at pilot households

·       
Coordinate
field supplies as will be required from Kampala office by the teams in the
study areas.

·       
Support
data collection in collaboration with the data management team, coordinators
and investigators.

·       
Maintain
data in a confidential manner as per established Good Clinical Practice
guidelines.

·       
Participate
in the preparation and distribution of study reports, in collaboration with the
data management team and investigators.

·       
Participate
in hiring, training and line-management of field staff in collaboration with
the study coordinator, trial manager and investigators.

·       
Manage
approximately 4 staff members based at the regional office.

·       
Take
part in regular team meetings.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Social
Administration, or Social Sciences or any Humanities from a well-recognized
Institution.

·       
A
Master’s degree in Public Health or a Post-Graduate Diploma in Project planning
and Management is an added advantage

·       
Experience
working in a Research setting or NGO

·       
Excellent
interpersonal and public communication skills, organizational skills, with a
problem-solving attitude

·       
A
self-starter who has the ability to plan/schedule work activities
independently, with minimum supervision

·       
Strong
leadership and management skills

·       
Demonstrated
ability to work in a team and fast-paced environment

·       
High
levels of flexibility, confidentiality and integrity
