About US:

The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) is a
government agency established in 1990 by an Act of parliament (CAP 209). The
UNCST under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MoSIT) is
mandated to develop and implement strategies for integrating Science and
Technology (S&T) into the national development process.

 

Job Summary:  The
Driver will provide transport services by driving and maintaining the UNCST
assigned vehicle for official duties in accordance with the transport policy,
and as directed by the supervising officer.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
To drive
UNCST vehicles for official duty and assignments in a safe manner;

·       
To work
as Driver to the Deputy Executive Secretary;

·       
Ensure
the assigned vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks and report
technical mechanical faults to the supervising officer;

·       
Ensure
scheduled preventive maintenance for the vehicle is carried out;

·       
Ensure
safety of the vehicle and its passengers at all times by advising them on
required safety measures;

·       
Observing
safety and legal driving practices at all times with or without passengers;

·       
Maintain
a professional and appropriate appearance at all times;

·       
Undertake
any other UNCST tasks as necessary and as may be assigned.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at-least a
pass in English Language;

·       
Valid
Driving Permit and clean driving record (attach driving permit);

·       
Training
in Defensive Driving;

·       
At least
3 years of progressive experience driving Senior Personnel;

·       
Basic
Knowledge of mechanical and vehicle maintenance;

·       
Good
communication skills, Flexibility and Customer Care;

·       
Time
Management;

·       
High
level of integrity & confidentiality;

·       
Age: not
more than 35 years.
