About US:

The Uganda Episcopal
Conference (UEC) with support from PEPFAR through the Centers for Diseases
Control is implementing a five-year project entitled “Engagement of Faith
based organizations [FBOs] Community based organizations [CBOs) and Private
not for Profit {PNFP} facilities to support HIV Epidemic control in the Republic
of Uganda under the Presidential Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief”. The
above site project intends to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of
Religious leaders, FBOs/CBOs to create demand for and increase access to HIV
prevention services, treatment and care particularly for men and children. The
project will as well contribute to the prevention of violence against children,
deliver messages of hope, support adherence to treatment and retention into
care using the religious structures and faith platforms. UEC will closely work
with Regional Implementing partners, Local Governments, PNFP and Public health
facilities for referrals as well faith based and secular CBOs/CSOs

 

Job Summary:  Working with the Senior Technical Advisor, the
Program Officer will coordinate efforts of the FCI Project within the region
aimed at enhancing project work promote the FCI project. The Officer will also
support dioceses in rolling out behavior change communication messages through
Church structures and systems

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Support
the mobilization of religious leaders, youths, and community members to
participate in project activities.

·       
Arrange
all trainings, mentorships, and orientations for the various target groups that
include religious leaders, health workers, counselors, peer leaders and other
pastoral agents.

·       
Liaise
with Regional Implementing Partners (IPs], diocesan authorities , health
facilities and other stakeholders in the regions to access HIV testing kits,
support referrals and linkages for HIV infected individuals.

·       
Disseminate
project materials containing messages of hope to project beneficiaries and
stakeholders.

·       
Follow
up on trained community mobilisers, pastoral agents and other change agents to
ensure that they carry out expected roles in the community.

·       
Organize
meetings with stakeholders to review, monitor and evaluate project activities.

·       
Lead the
collection, collation, synthesis and reporting of project data.

·       
Conduct
monthly and quarterly support supervision and technical assistance to
sub-grantees to ensure that project activities are implemented as per work
plans and budgets.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in either Public Health,
Social Sciences

·       
Training
in HIV/AIDS related aspects

·       
At least
five years’ experience in HIV/AIDS service provision including mentorship and
capacity building in sub national structures

·       
Training
in Behavior Change Communication will be an added advantage

·       
Demonstrated
initiative and ability to work independently with minimum supervision even
under time constraints in order to meet deadlines

·       
Excellent
computer skills: Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and
e-mail)

·       
Good
oral and written communication skills
