About US:

The mission of the
Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to “Strengthen Health Systems in Africa
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases through Research and Capacity
Development”. IDI has six operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment, Training, Research, Laboratory
services (including the CAP-certified IDI Core Lab & Translational Lab),
Global Health Security and Health System Strengthening Programmes.

With funding from  Centres for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC)/PEPFAR, and in partnership with MoH and respective District Local
Governments, IDI is implementing comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in the West
Nile region of Uganda under the project “Accelerating and Sustaining HIV
Epidemic Control and Related Diseases in West-Nile Region of Uganda under the
President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), 2020-2025”. The project
supports the 12 districts of; Arua, Maracha, Madi-Okollo, Terego, Koboko,
Yumbe, Moyo, Obongi, Adjumani, Pakwach, Nebbi and Zombo.

 

Job Summary: The
Regional Referral Social Worker will support interventions for mobilization of
vulnerable persons and communities for social protection, HIV prevention, and
care services. S/he will ensure that targeted numbers of vulnerable groups per
urban council are achieved /surpassed. He/she will work with the District HIV
Prevention & KP Officer to generate plans that will lead to reaching and
bringing the targeted groups for HIV prevention and care services. He / She
will be responsible for setting up, coordinating and overseeing the linkages of
clients served.

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  

·       
Planning
and budgeting for vulnerable groups programs in the urban council.

·       
Organizing
local communities to effectively participate in vulnerable groups care
initiatives.

·       
Sensitizing
communities and NGOs/CBOs on the rights of vulnerable populations on their care
and protection issues targeting access and utilization of HIV AIDS Services.

·       
Building
capacity of CBOs, OVC protection committees and other related community
structures.

·       
Providing
psychological support, and counselling to families.

·       
Monitoring
child related interventions under the project.

·       
Generating
quality and timely monthly reports and data

 

Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social work and social
administration or a medical related field with medical training

·       
Post
graduate training in HIV/AIDS and experience in HIV/AIDS programming

·       
Previous
work experience with PEPFAR funded projects.

·       
Post
graduate diploma in project planning and management will be added advantage

·       
Two
years of experience post internship in a busy HIV/AIDS clinical setting.

·       
Relevant
experience working with CBO’s/CSO’s

·       
Training
and experience in Differentiated Service Delivery models

·       
Technical
Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and ART management

·       
Good
communication (both oral and written) and Team work skills.
