and open contracting (OC) in Africa. With 41 members in 21 African countries,
AFIC is the largest and leading organization promoting the right to information
and open contracting in Africa.

 

Job Summary:  Reporting to the Executive Director, the
overall purpose of the Senior Programme Officer is to coordinate fundraising as
well as the design and implementation of AFIC’s programmes on right to
information, open contracting, social accountability and membership
development.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • In collaboration with staff and members design and coordinate
    fundraising efforts of the organization
  • Coordinate the implementation and reporting on AFIC’s programmes on
    right to information and open contracting across Africa
  • Support coordination and membership development programmes of AFIC
    members
  • Support and advise AFIC members on their programmes relating to
    right to information, social accountability, open contracting
  • Coordinate networks and partnerships where AFIC is formally involved
  • In collaboration with advocacy coordinator and programme staff,
    promote the documentation and sharing of knowledge with AFIC stakeholders
    on AFIC’s work
  • In collaboration with M&E Coordinator ensure that AFIC
    programmes are effectively implemented, results are being achieved and
    learning is obtained
  • Support and supervise AFIC programme staff
  • Provide language support for AFIC’s work in francophone countries
  • Any other tasks assigned by AFIC’s Executive Director

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should possess postgraduate training in
    organizational development, humanities or human rights.
  • At least five years of experience in transparency and accountability
    programming, network building and coordination and capacity building.
  • He/she should have good analytical, writing and fundraising skills.
  • Knowledge of public contracting is an added advantage.
