Senior Legal Officer (Law Course & CLE)

Duty Station:  Mbarara, Uganda

Reports to: Senior Legal Officer (Law Course & CLE)

 

About US:

Law Development
Centre (LDC) will provide legal
education to lawyers and non-lawyers, undertake research in topical legal
issues, contribute to legal reforms, produce legal publications, teaching
materials and law reports, and also provide community legal services.

 

Job Summary:   The Senior Legal Officer (Law Course &
CLE) will assist the Senior Legal Officer in providing general legal counsel to
clients.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
To
participate in the implementation of teaching timetable at the campus.

·       
To
participate in the development, review and update of curricula.

·       
To
assist in planning and coordinating of teaching during the week to the assigned
lecturers.

·       
To
assist in co-coordinating invigilation and marking of examinations.

·       
To
assist in the development and implementation of sectional work plans and
budgets.

·       
To
participate in the implementation of internship programmes.

·       
To
prepare and submit periodic performance reports for Lecturers to the Senior
Legal Officer.

·       
To
perform any other duties assigned by the senior Legal Officer.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold an honors degree in Law.

·       
Postgraduate
diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre.

·       
At least
two (2) years of experience in public or private legal practice.

·       
He/she
should be a person of high integrity.

·       
Ability
to produce quality results.

·       
Effective
communication skills.

·       
He/she
should be a team player.

·       
Reporting
skills.
