About US:

The Public Service
Commission is established under the provisions of  Article 165(1) of the
1995 Constitution. In fulfillment of its functions under Article 166,  the
Commission is required to make a report to Parliament in respect of each year’s
performance of its functions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Labelling
specimens accurately and distributing them to the appropriate Department to
ensure specimen integrity;

·       
Processing
specimens and preparing them for testing utilizing various types of laboratory
equipment;

·       
Tracking
all specimen samples in LIS system for inventory purposes as required;

·       
Maintaining
the laboratory with ample supplies and in a clean and safe condition;

·       
Assisting
in the care and maintenance of laboratory work area, furnishings and equipment;

·       
Troubleshooting
missing samples;

·       
Performing
basic laboratory testing and submitting reports to laboratory technical staff;

·       
Adhering
to quality procedure, policies and safety guidelines;

·       
Assisting
in disposing of all laboratory wastes following laboratory guidelines;

·       
Operating
laboratory autoclave to render hazardous materials safe;

·       
Performing
regular inventory at the laboratory and requisitioning for all necessary
supplies for laboratory work;

·       
Packing
and preparing dangerous goods shipment items;

·       
Any
other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
Applicants
should be Ugandans in possession of a Certificate in Biomedical Laboratory
Techniques from a recognized University/ Institution.
