About the Role

GOAL Uganda is
seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Information Technology (IT) Officer to
join our vibrant and innovative IT department. The IT officer will report to
the IT Manager and will be responsible for supporting networks, databases and
systems, updating system hardware and software, troubleshooting for system
errors, and assisting team members in supporting all data security and optimization.
An extensive background in technology and computer science, with experience in
maintaining and installing IT systems, is a must.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

To be successful in
this role, you will need:

·       
A
bachelor’s in computer science/ Information Technology/ Industry certification
(MCSE), CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+ certification, or other related IT
professional certification; must meet all state-required
licensure/certification. Preference given to candidates with the following:
CASP, CEH, CISSP, GSEC, GCIH, Sec+, Net+, A+, Cloud+, CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCDA,
MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, MTA

·       
Previous
experience in training

·       
Minimum
2 years’ experience in an information technology role

·       
Experience
working with network and server management support

·       
Excellent
written, verbal communication skills and very flexible.

·       
Problem-solving
– Resolve problems while maximizing the efficient use of computing resource

·       
Working
knowledge of systems procurement and requisitions for low-cost items, Working
knowledge with Remote desktop management, Familiarity with a range of computer
languages and development paradigms.

·       
Basic
knowledge of electronics (computer repairs)

·       
Basic
understanding database setup skills using MSSQL, MySQL for roster system
configuration desirable

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

The key
responsibilities of the role will be:

Mobile/PC

·       
Primary
contact for Mobile/Tablet issues – hardware and software.

·       
Coordination
with field staff – Mobile/PC Usability, features, issues, feedback.

·       
Keep
track of problems and repairs-log all tasks performed

·       
Windows
and Android configuration – User, Admin, security

·       
Test and
implement mobile/tablet/PC/Printer/Scanner setup, configuration,
troubleshooting, and maintenance standards for use in the organization.

·       
Test and
implement mobile/tablet management MDM for the organization.

Service

·       
Set up
equipment for new users and employees

·       
Provide
helpdesk and technical support either by phone, remote access, or site visits

·       
Must be
able to troubleshoot both Hardware and software related issues.

·       
Complete
Hardware and software installations and upgrades and ensure anti-virus systems
are up to date

·       
Perform
regular preventive maintenance on the organization PCs

·       
Facilitate
the sharing of files & perform backups

·       
Provide
staff training in IT related matters in line with the GOAL Policy

·       
Keeping
an up to date IT database

·       
Coordinate
between the Kampala Head Office and the field office users on IT-related
matters.

·       
60 to
80% time on Field support-visiting as need be.

Networks

·       
Network
monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and provision of weekly network
reports

·       
Participate
in ITO documentation including network diagrams and network processes

·       
Implement
and oversee network devices configuration and periodic backup plan and
restoration when needed.

GOAL

Established in 1977,
GOAL is an international humanitarian agency, with a global team of 2,400
personnel, dedicated to alleviating the needs of the most vulnerable
communities. Currently operating in 13 of the world’s most vulnerable
countries, GOAL delivers a wide range of humanitarian and development
programmes, ranging from humanitarian relief in disaster situations, to
focusing on nutrition, food security, and building greater resilience and
sustainable livelihoods.

General description of the country programme:

First operational in
Uganda in 1979, the current GOAL Uganda country programme focuses on Health
(including WASH, Health Accountability and Nutrition programming); and a market
based systems approach to improving agricultural livelihoods and WASH. GOAL
Uganda mainstreams gender, child protection, social behaviour change and
resilience strategies across all programming. GOAL works on a district focused
approach and uses a mixture of direct implementation and partnerships with
national and international civil society organizations, local government, the
private sector and communities to give effect to our mission.

GOAL Uganda has a
skilled team of approximately 100 personnel and manages an annual operating
budget of approximately €8.7 million (2018). GOAL is currently operational in
the North, South, East and West of Uganda with six established offices in
Kampala, Lira, Bugiri, Abim, Kaabong and Agago Districts. GOAL Uganda country
programme is funded by a number of donors who include Mastercard, charity:
water, Irish Aid and some small foundations.
