The International
Rescue Committee helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by
conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. It
was created by Albert Einstein more than 80 years and has been working in
Uganda since 1998. It has particularly working in the conflict zones where tens
of thousands of people have been kills and over 1.6 million displaced.
Following a peace agreement in 2006, Ugandans are returning home and looking to
rebuild their lives. The IRC is there to protect women and children from
violence and exploitation by fostering a safe environment and encouraging
education, and is supporting farmers and small businesses, and helping
communities promote peace and long-term development.

Job Summary:  The Administrative Support Volunteer will act
as the liaison staff or point of contact for all staff in the field to provide
administrative support in coordinating paper-works submitted to Kampala for
review and approval. Main duties include receiving documents and taking them to
responsible offices to solicit reviews or approval and routing the documents by
shuttles including through email to point of origin. Our ideal candidate also
has working knowledge of office equipment and office management tools.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Receive
documents and take them for signing.

·       
Dispatch
documents to last mile destination through shuttles or emails.

·       
Maintain
good documentation logs (incoming and outgoing) and ensure effective
communication with end-users.

·       
Communicate
to all staff submitting documentations to Kampala on a regular basis and
providing updates.

·       
Perform
other relevant duties as assigned (of a similar nature or related and in the
interest of the organization).

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Administrative
Support Volunteer job placement must hold a Diploma in Business
Administration/Finance or Information/Office Management.

·       
Two
years of relevant professional experience in documentation management and
administration.

·       
Previous
experience working with an international NGO in a cross-cultural setting,
preferably with a large project.

·       
Data and
Information integrity is a MUST.

·       
Proficiency
in English (spoken and written)

·       
Documentalist/archivist.

·       
Skills
in the area of e-documentation.

·       
Remains
productive when under pressure.

·       
Works
collaboratively with team members to achieve results.

·       
Relates
and works well with people of different cultures, gender and backgrounds.

·       
Flexibility
and prepared to work additional hours.

·       
Strong
and fast computer skills (primarily Word, Excel, and outlook).

·       
Prior
experience as an administrator.
