private not for profit child health and development organization providing
family-centered pediatric HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services,
health professional training, and clinical research in Uganda. Baylor College
of Medicine Children’s Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous
not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the
Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a
Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres
of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa
and Eastern Europe.

 

Job Summary:  The Public Health Specialist will twin with
the respective District Health Officers to build the capacity of the district
staff; together they will monitor and supervise service delivery; and provide
overall technical support to the district teams. S/he will ensure adherence to
HTS protocols to identify HIV positive clients (1st 95); that all identified
HIV positive clients are linked to and initiated on ART (2nd 95); coordinate
implementation of care and treatment, DSDM for HTS and care; coordinate HSS
activities with the DHO and the Project Manager; and ensure quality and
appropriate services are delivered to improve retention of clients in care and
viral suppression (3rd 95). He will assume the overall leadership of the
cluster field teams.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The
applicant must hold an MBChB and registration with the Uganda Medical and
Dental Practitioners Council

·        
Personal
competencies in team building and good communication skills.

·        
Being
dynamic, Persuasive & convincing, self- motivated and able to demonstrate
high initiative.

·        
Ability
to work under pressure and meet deadlines

·        
Experience
as a supervisor in clinic or hospital-based services.

·        
Knowledge
of HIV/TB and ART

·        
Knowledge
of community based health care and advocacy

·        
Knowledge
of district health systems and protocols
