Lutheran World
Federation (LWF) Uganda is part of the LWF World Service and we are currently
supporting Congolese and South-Sudanese refugees living in settlements in the
districts of Kamwenge, Adjumani, Obongi, Kyangwali and Lamwo respectively.

 

Job Summary:  The Gender Officer is responsible for
championing gender mainstreaming in all activities of the CLWR Projects. He/she
will take lead in the implementation of all gender activities in the project

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  The Gender Officer under CLWR INPLAWS Project
will;

·       
Lead the
implementation of Gender and Protection components under Canadian Lutheran
World Relief (CLWR) INPLAWs project and support gender mainstreaming in all
activities of the project;

·       
Provide
technical advice, direction and support to CLWR INPLAWs project Staff to
achieve significant impact on gender and protection components and women’s
rights.

·       
Oversee
the development and implementation of gender equity and social inclusion
considerations in CLWR IMPLAWs Project and other LWF project activities.

·       
With the
support of Grants Manager and Protection Team, develop, implement and promote
gender empowerment approaches such as the GREAT, SASA and Engaging Men and Boys
among others in combating gender-based violence and gender discrimination.

·       
Support
and Facilitate community-based education in areas where the CLWR INPLAWs
Project is being implemented and help in building the capacity of women and
other gender groups (Community Activists, Drama groups, women groups etc) to
know and claim their gender rights and understand their roles in the
communities they live in.

·       
Build
the capacity of all CLWR INPLAW Project staff on how to integrate gender
concerns from a programmatic perspective through training, guidance, one-on-one
support, commenting on strategy plans, providing input to program design and
proposal writing and orientation on the use of Gender in all Sectors.

·       
Lead in
conducting or reviewing Gender Analysis and translate the recommendations into
program design, implementation and evaluation.

·       
Lead in
monitoring, reporting and sharing progress on the Gender indicators in the CLWR
IMPLAW Projects, including periodic data collection the agreed indicators.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate for the Gender Officer job must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in an
appropriate social and development field such as Gender Studies, Social
Science, Sociology, Development Studies, Community Development or Rural
Development.

·       
Four
years’ experience in integrating Gender in Humanitarian/Development activities

·       
Demonstrated
knowledge in gender programming

·       
Experience
in community mobilization and training

·       
Excellent
Team Player with good communication skills and team work

·       
Very
good Networking and lobbying skills

·       
Proficiency
in Microsoft Windows/Word/Excel required.

·       
Sound
report writing skills
