About US:

The Insurance
Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) was established under section 14 of the
Insurance Statute 1996 now The Insurance Act, (Chap213) Laws of Uganda, 2000
(Insurance Act) which came into effect on 4th April 1996 and commenced
operations in April 1997. The establishment of the Insurance Regulatory
Authority of Uganda was a consequence of Government’s adoption of the
liberalization and privatization policies which ended its role of directly
engaging in the provision of goods and services and taking on the role of
supervisor or regulator.

Job Summary:  The Communications Officer will develop and
produce innovative, creative multimedia / digital content ideas supporting the
communication function of the Authority while creating public awareness.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Develop
and maintain corporate standards for graphic design, photography, videography
and multimedia production of the Authority.

·       
Design,
produce and coordinate digital communication materials like digital
newsletters, flyers, promotional items, power point presentation among others.

·       
Identify,
create, edit, generate multimedia (visual and audio) communication ideas/
content

·       
Edit and
format photos, videos, and data for inclusion in Authority’s public awareness
programmes and upload it to the website and social media platforms.

·       
Establish
and maintain effective design strategies, and corporate graphic standards in the
implementation of design solutions.

·       
Lead in
the design and layout of Authority annual reports, calendars, promotional and
information materials.

·       
Assist
with production of Authority photography and/or production of instructional
digital videos.

·       
Work towards
maintaining and growing the Authority’s social media audience on various social
networking sites by uploading digital content.

·       
Coordinate
and encourage adoption of relevant social media techniques into the Authority’s
corporate culture and service provision.

·       
Ensure
that there is consistent and coordinated messages about insurance from the
Authority and insurance players.

·       
Support
the documentation of Authority events through visual-audio and photography
content.

·       
Undertake
any other communication related duties as may be assigned from time to time by
the Senior Communications Officer.

of developed multimedia content.

in IRA awareness/visibility by general public.

in IRA’s social media audience.

Corporate image and brand management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) Communications
Officer job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts and
graphics, media relations, Information Technology

·       
Holds a
certificate or diploma in Graphics Design or multimedia and interactive design
or visual communication.

·       
Personal
presentation

·       
Effectively
plans and prioritizes own workload

·       
Proactive
and able to develop and implement ideas

·       
Creative
design, innovation & Computer skills

·       
Ability
to use Adobe’s creative apps (Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe
illustrator, Adobe photoshop, Indesign etc).

·       
Expertise
in copy production across all media 

·       
Ability
to work proactively using own initiative, meet tight deadlines, with
well-developed time management skills

·       
Understanding
of branding principles and application of these in a communications and
marketing.

·       
Attention
to detail and accuracy

·       
Self-motivated,
highly organized and able to work under tight deadlines
