About US:

The Capital
Markets Authority (CMA) is a statutory body, established in 1996 by the Capital
Markets Authority Act (Cap 84) as amended, to promote, develop and regulate the
capital markets industry. CMA is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by
the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. The work of the CMA
is also governed by the Securities Central Depositories Act, 2009 and the
Collective Investment Schemes Act, 2003.

 

Job Summary:  The Communication & Public Education
Officer will mainly develop and implement investor education plans /
initiatives as well as support the implementation of communication and public
relations activities of the Authority with an aim of improving investor
confidence in the market, increasing investor participation and enhancing
investor protection.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Develop and spearhead the implementation of the annual
investor education plans in line with the approved public education strategy
and the communications strategy

·       
Monitor and evaluate the implementation and impact of the
investor education strategies and initiatives

·       
Develop investor education tools and materials

·       
Oversee and coordinate the Authority’s branding

·       
Ensure media coverage of CMA events and activities

·       
Monitor media coverage of the Authority and its activities

·       
Develop content and update the CMA website regularly

·       
Develop and implement the annual digital media plan of the
Authority

·       
Support the Authority’s other communication and public
relations activities and;

·       
Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to
time

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicant for the Capital Markets Authority (CMA)
Communication & Public Education Officer employment opportunity should hold
a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Communication / Public Relations;
Social Sciences; Behavioral or Development Economics; Education or any other
relevant degree.

·       
Post graduate training in strategic communications or
related fields will be an added advantage.

·       
At least three (3) years’ working experience gained from a
reputable private or public sector organization;

·       
Experience in developing and delivering public information
programs

·       
Effective communication skills, including but not limited
to writing, reporting, public speaking and presentation skills

·       
Good computer skills and experience/ training in using
programs such as MS programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and other design
programs

·       
Knowledge of investments and / or capital markets will be
an added advantage.

·       
Leadership potential

·       
High level of integrity & professionalism

·       
Ability to work under tight deadlines with minimal
supervision.

·       
Good interpersonal skills

·       
Flexibility and adaptability
