About US:

The Rural
Electrification Agency (REA) is the Secretariat of the Rural Electrification
Board (REB). The REB’s main function is to oversee the management of the Rural
Electrification Fund (REF) and facilitate the development and implementation of
rural electrification projects under several sources of funding.

Job Summary:  The Outreach Officer shall work under the
supervision of the Principal Corporate and Community Affairs Officer in the
office of the Chief Executive Officer. The job will include to provide
communication support to the various Project Management teams as may be
assigned. She/he through various means conduct stakeholder engagement geared
towards smooth project implementation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Plan and
implement Community engagement strategies that advance the project objectives
in line with the institutional goals and mission,

·       
Increase
community awareness of REA projects, including connections initiatives and any
other project interventions,

·       
Enhance
community participation during project implementation through developing and
growing a stakeholder database,

·       
Mobilize
and coordinate community involvement and support during project implementation,

·       
Sensitize
communities on the productive use of energy, energy efficiency including health
and safety

·       
Develop
a conflict resolution strategy and peace building processes during project
implementation,

·       
Give
marketing support to the service providers in the different service
territories.

·       
Assist
the wayleaves office in addressing disputes over wayleaves rights, land
ownership and tree cutting.

·       
Events
management for projects including site handovers, ground-breaking ceremonies,
commissioning ceremonies in liaison with the engineering and Corporate
Communications team,

·       
Promote
and coordinate Corporate Social responsibility

·       
Coordinate
media engagements in consultation with the Corporate Communications Team

·       
Work in
partnership with the Social safeguards team to ensure compliance on
environmental, social development, gender concerns and community engagement
component.

·       
Support
the head of Unit in supervision duties as maybe assigned

·       
Carryout
any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
Bachelor’s
degree in Mass Communications and/ or Journalism, or any other Social Science
but with community engagement and mobilization experience of at least 5 years. Master’s
degree in the field related fields will be an added advantage

·       
At least
7 years of experience in a similar assignment.

·       
Demonstrate
communication abilities in English and other local languages in Uganda

·       
Good
command of new media especially social media for corporate communication.
