About US:
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is a semi- autonomous
agency of Government responsible for maintenance of the National Statistical
System to ensure the collection, analysis and dissemination of Statistical information.
The Bureau has a dual role as the principal statistics producing agency and
coordinator of the National Statistical System (NSS).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Support the development of Strategic Plans for
Statistics for MDAs
·
Support the Statistics Technical Committee in
the MDAs in the compilation of Metadata for NSI Indicators.
·
Support the compilation of administrative data
in Ministries, Departments and Agencies and Local Governments.
·
Update the Compendium of statistical concepts
and definitions in MDAs & the National Statistical System.
·
Support the compilation of gender responsive
indicators in MDAs in line with the NDP III, NPGEI, and SDGs.
·
Support the compilation of gender responsive
Annual Statistical Abstracts.
·
Prepare regular gender responsive (Quarterly and
Annual) progress reports, on Statistical Development in MDAs.
·
Support the production of quality data compiled
in MDAs in line with the Data Quality Assessment Frameworks.
·
Any other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The applicant for the Uganda Bureau of
Statistics (UBOS) Statistician job should hold an Honours’ Degree in
Statistics; Quantitative Economics or Economics with Statistics;
·
A Post Graduate qualification in Statistics or
Economics will be an added advantage;
·
Membership and full subscription to the Uganda
Statistical Society, a must.
·
Membership to the International Statistical
Institute will be an added advantage.
·
Practical experience of at least one year with a
credible organisation in the area of statistics.
·
Good knowledge of Statistics.
·
Understanding of the statistical business
process model.
·
Experience in data collection, data management
and report writing
·
Excellent inter-personal, writing and
communication skills.
