The palliative care
Association of Uganda (PCAU) is the National Association for Palliative care in
Uganda. PCAU was established in 1999 and registered as a Non-Governmental
Organization (NGO) in 2003. PCAU is a national umbrella organization for
palliative care providers with wide membership, strong, supportive partners and
a mandate to work hand in hand with the Ministry of Health in strengthening
health care systems for palliative care services provision. The mission of PCAU
is to accelerate the integration of palliative care in the Uganda health care
system through capacity building, advocacy, research and resources
mobilization.

Job Summary:  The Volunteer will support the efforts towards
the realization of one of PCAU’s aims which is to become a hub of research and
information through the carrying out and /or hosting relevant palliative care
research and leading the collection storing and analysis of data and by
regularly disseminating information to improve PC services. Among other things,
therefore the officer will: – support the work on articulating and publishing
the PCAU research agenda, support conducting specific research
projects/activities or surveys as need arises, ensure publication of the PCAU
journal and support local and international research work collaboration policy.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       Postgraduate degree in a health related or
social science field or minimum of 2 years of professional experience in
conducting/supporting the conducting of research in a university, think tank,
charity or consultancy.

·        Experience in designing quantitative and
quantities research tools, quantitative and statistical data analysis,
including using Excel and/or SPSS.

·        Evidence of having worked in group settings
and or as part of cross-organizational or inter-organizational teams is also
desired.
