About US:

In 1995, Epicentre
created a permanent research centre in Uganda to support MSF projects in the
region. The primary role of Epicentre in Mbarara is to conduct clinical
research following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements on critical public
health burdens in Uganda and Africa. To reach this objective, Epicentre
collaborates closely with the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).

Job Summary:  The overall goal for the Laboratory Technician
position is the successful implementation of study protocols in collaboration
with the France (Paris) and Ugandan Principal Investigators, Mbarara-based
Epicenter research team, and other collaborators

Location:
MSF/Epicentre Mbarara Research Centre (EMRC), Uganda

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Perform analyses and report results of
laboratory procedures performed in the laboratory, according to GCLP standards.

·       Participate in all laboratory activities:
CD4+ testing using PIMA analyser, Rapid Diagnostic tests (RDT), haematology,
clinical chemistry, smear microscopy, media preparation, others as applicable

·       Ensure that the procedures are performed
following standard operating procedures (SOP)

·       Participate in the implementation of quality
assurance procedures

·       Participate in follow up of the internal
andexternal quality control

·       Participate in the regular maintenance of
laboratory equipment both internally (daily or weekly procedures) or externally
(annual maintenance).

·       Participate in the biosafety aspects of the laboratory

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       The ideal candidate must hold a Diploma in
Medical Laboratory Techniques

·       Experience in laboratory
procedures(Hematology, Clinical chemistry, microscopy,

·       Use of PIMA CD4+ analyser)

·       Knowledge in using word, excel and power
point

·       Ability to communicate

·       Experience/knowledge of GCLP and lab safety
requirement
