About Project:

Joining Forces to
End Violence Against Children is a global collaboration between 6 leading child
rights organisations – ChildFund, Plan International, Save the Children, SOS
Children’s Villages, Terre des Hommes and World Vision.  In Uganda Joining Forces focuses on ending
violence against children and ensuring children’s voices are amplified as
agents of change.

Job Summary:   The
Child Protection Specialist is part of the Consortium Management Unit (CMU) and
reports to the Project Manager. S/he provides technical support to the CMU and
the JF partners towards achieving quality outcomes on the agreed upon project
goals, including lasting improvements in national and local protection and
response systems. S/he contributes to developing adequate planning and budgeting
for project implementation and leads on advocacy components that aim to
influence systems and behavior change at all levels. S/he supports the
implementation of  evidence- based
approaches that create sustainable results. S/he supports keeping children safe
in project implementation, ensuring partners follow safeguarding policies and
standards that creating a protective environment for children against harm and
abuse.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the Save the Children Child Protection Specialist-Joining Forces
employment vacancy should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Rights, Governance,
Social Science, Social Work and Social Administration, Arts, Education,
Psychology, Development studies, Law.

·       
Post
Graduate training in Project Management, Community Development or a Master’s
degree in any relevant field is an added advantage.

·       
Any
relevant specific experience or training on the Child Protection and Child
Rights Programming.

·       
At least
5-7 years’ work experience with (I)NGO in programming and communication for
children’s rights, in particular related to child protection and education;
proven experience with (child rights) advocacy and campaigning is preferable.

·       
Track
record of work experience in collaboration and networking with partners and
stakeholders

·       
Proven
ability to perform multi-tasking and ability to work on tight deadlines.

·       
Proven
ability to work in a multicultural/cross cultural environment. Adaptable,
flexible with a high level of work ethics.

·       
Understanding
of donors and resource mobilization.

·       
Proven
experience in planning, organization and coordination

·       
Proven
experience in influencing and negotiation.
