of Tanzania, Republic of South Sudan, and the Republic of Uganda with its

economic, political, social, and cultural integration to improve the quality of
life of the people of East Africa through increased competitiveness, value

Job Summary:
The Senior Clerk Assistant will facilitate Committees and Plenary Sessions of
the Assembly.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Provide
Secretarial services to Committees of the Assembly

·       
Keep
custody of Journals of the Assembly

·       
Prepare
Order Papers, Votes and Proceedings, Motions and Questions

·       
Clerk at
the Table

·       
Draft
amendments to Bills

·       
Provide
advice to the Speaker and Members on legislative procedures.

·       
Conduct
Procedural Research

·       
Conduct
relevant research and studies for Committees in liaison with the Research Office

·       
Perform
any other duties as may be assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the East African Community (EAC) Senior Clerk Assistant job must
hold a Bachelor’s University Degree in Public Administration, Law, Social Sciences
or related field;

·       
Postgraduate
qualifications in any of the above fields and specialized training in
Parliamentary procedures and knowledge of the operations of a regional
Parliament will be an added advantage;       

·       
Minimum
of eight (8) years relevant experience three (3) of which must be at senior
level.

·       
The
ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, highly developed
negotiation and interpersonal skills, effective research and report writing
skills.

·       
Proficiency
in computer applications is a must.
