Uganda Breweries
Limited (UBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply
and demand for beer and spirits) It is a subsidiary of East African Breweries
Limited (EABL); the largest business unit in Diageo Africa . UBL is responsible
for the manufacturing and distribution of beer brands and mainstream spirits.
Beer brands within the portfolios include Bell, Guinness, Tusker Lager, Tusker
Lite and a range of mainstream spirit brands. UBL is also the distributor of
several global Diageo international renowned spirit brands such as Johnnie
Walker®, Ciroc®, Smirnoff Vodka®, Bailey’s Irish Cream®, Richot®, Bond 7 Whiskey®
and Gilbeys Gin®. The scope of this market also covers export countries such as
Rwanda, Burundi and Congo contributing circa 3% of business revenue.

Job Summary:  The  Finance & Strategy Director
– UBL will be responsible
for overall leadership and direction to the Finance function. It also partners
with the leadership team within the commercial function. The Provide strategic
leadership and guidance to the business and manage all financial aspects of company
strategy and flow of financial information to the EABL group, the board and,
external parties such as investors or financial institutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Development
& enablement of Business Strategy in partnership with MD and Executive team

·       
Partners
driving Great business performance through performance measurement and value
creating insight generation

·       
Drive
robust strategic planning processes to deliver Mission and strategic plans for
the business

·       
Constructively
challenge, input and maximize value in key business areas and drive exceptional
business performance (raise the bar), constantly seek improved value from
existing Business e.g. Value Chain Analysis, cost to serve, brand value
engineering, CAPEX investment appraisal

·       
To ensure
all financial and CARM (Compliance and risk management) controls are in place
and lead the development & implementation of robust governance process
across the business

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a 1st Degree in a business-related field.

·       
Qualified
Accountant (CPA (K), ACCA, ACA, ACMA)

·       
MBA
degree

·       
A
minimum of ten years of finance management experience, with at least 5 years in
senior management in a reputable organization.

·       
Experience
in FMCG will be an added advantage

·       
Strong
technical accounting skills necessary, with ideally some experience on tax and
treasury

·       
Outstanding
skills in the areas of leadership, coaching, mentoring, motivation,
influencing, good relationship management and interpersonal skills, able to hold
others to account, able to exercise good judgement – know when to have a light
touch and when to intervene

·       
Skilled
communicator, with well-developed verbal, written and presentation ability.

·       
Experience
in multicultural / multilingual environments
