Limited was founded in 1992 when the coffee industry was liberalised and is the
oldest licensed coffee exporter in Uganda. We remain one of the leading green
coffee exporters in Uganda with export volumes of about 400,000 bags a year. We
source high quality arabica and robusta coffees from all major coffee growing
areas in Uganda and are also working with over 12,000 farmers across the
country to improve the yields and quality of their coffee through our
sustainability initiatives.

Job Summary: The
Quality Department at KCL is at the heart of our business and provides an
interface across all internal departments and external stakeholders. It is an
extremely busy, fast paced and interesting team to be a part. The role of the
Assistant Quality Manager provides leadership and guidance for the department
as well as overseeing and executing several tasks within the function. The
successful candidate for this role will have completed their UCDA training as
well as having commenced or completed their QorR Grader training .

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Procurement of coffee: The Asst. QM takes
charge of receiving, analysing buying and or rejecting coffee

·       In this role you will oversee and proactively
manage internal analysis documentation for internal and external use.

·       The Assistant QM leads on the preparation of
coffee samples and liaises closely with the Trade department as well as the
Logistics function.

·       The role takes the lead on preparing cupping
sessions and monitoring quality of coffee received from units across Uganda
providing timely feedback as and when required including preparing regular
management reports.

·       In this role the post holder will take an
active role in mentoring and supervising the Quality Team carrying out regular
performance reviews and training needs analysis to ensure the team is
developing and has the ability to carry out their roles as effectively as
possible.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       The ideal candidate must be  educated to at least diploma level in a
relevant field, as well as having had experience within the Coffee industry in
a similar role and at a similar level.

·       You must have completed the basic UCDA
trainings as well as having completed or already part way through completing Q
or R Grader qualifications.

·       You must have effective communication skills,
both written and verbal and the ability to handle multiple tasks all with an
attention to fine detail.

·       You must hold strong Microsoft Office skills
including Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point You must be numeric and be able
to demonstrate an understanding of basic numeracy/ accountancy practices
