Mandela National
Stadium often referred to as Namboole Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in
Kampala, Uganda. It is currently used mostly for football matches, although
other sports are also practiced. The stadium has a capacity of 40,202 people.
The stadium was built with a grant of $36 million dollars from the People’s
Republic of China. The 40,202 capacity sports complex was built with a $36m
Chinese government grant and opened in 1997.
Job Summary:
The Safety and Security Officer will oversee the security of MNSL and establish
a generative safety & security culture in the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Develop
and implement safety management systems and procedures ie Pre-event planning,
inspection and risk assessment, contribute to preparation of physical and
safety factor assessment;
·
Plan,
organize and implement safety & security programs and activities in
enhancing MNSL safe work culture;
·
Conduct
regular audits, inspection and provide recommendations with follow-up to ensure
safety & security performance improvement;
·
Provide
leadership during emergencies and/or accidents
·
Investigate
and report safety incidents and notable accidents;
·
Liaise
with local authorities, police and other emergency services on matters
pertaining to safety & security and other safety incidents;
·
Collaborate
with other Stadia & global safety environmental teams for continual
improvement;
·
Provide
expert advice and support on safety & security issues to the management in
ensuring compliance and adherence to existing relevant local &
international legislation;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences
·
Training
in the field of safety & security management will be an added advantage
·
Must
have served in the forces (Army, Police & Prisons)
·
Experience
in the field of safety and security management
·
At least
five years of experience two (2) years of which should have been at similar
level.
·
