Job Summary:  The Initiative Coordinator will be responsible
for implementing livelihood activities under ECO DRR project, as well as
supporting CARE partners and community groups to identify Ecologically friendly
enterprises, promote viable private sector linkages for groups, identifying
viable markets and opportunities for communities in the Aswa catchment
(particularly Districts of Agago, Alebtong and Otuke) operational areas. The
project components are under the Women Empowerment and Natural Resources
Governance (WENG) department. This function involves providing technical
support to the project partners, stakeholders and consortium members of CORDAID,
Wetlands international and partners for the resilience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The main focus of the Initiative coordinator
will be promoting livelihood options and Eco based enterprises, support Natural
Resource Governance processes while working closely with existing government
and catchment structures and CSO’s in the Aswa catchment, coordinate with
partners under ECO DRR to implement Integrated Risk Management approaches.

·      
The initiative coordinator will have strong
knowledge on climate smart Agriculture(CSA), business development skills,
enterprise selection, planning and management.

·      
S/He will support Women and youth groups to
identify markets, opportunities to enhance their income and expand upon
economic choices. S/He will work with CARE partners to mobilize VSLA  groups, forest, wetland and interest groups
with representation of up to 70% women and youth to undertake economic
development activities.

·      
The initiative coordinator will take lead in
developing the project’s economic empowerment strategies and approaches that
will be mainstreamed in resilience building, economic empowerment that will
focus on climate smart Agriculture. This includes assisting women and youth in
earning and saving income, managing money, and allocating household resources
for improved household security with capacity to Anticipate, Adapt, Absorb and  Transform to climate shock and engaging in
agriculture as a business.

The Initiative coordinator will provide overall
technical guidance in ecologically friendly and climate-smart entrepreneurship,
private sector engagement, innovations, market information and viable linkages.

·      
He /she will offer skills development through
training, coaching and mentoring approaches to partner staff

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
Graduate degree in any of the following;
Agribusiness management, Natural resources Management, Agriculture Land Use and
Management, Agricultural Economics, or another relevant discipline from an
accredited university

·      
A post graduate diploma in the related field is
required

·      
At least 5-7 years of experience in development
work, with a focus on Ecosystem restoration and management, Eco-friendly
Enterprise development, private sector engagement and facilitation of
public-private partnerships

·      
Knowledge on building resilience, climate Smart
Agriculture, and gender transformation.

·      
A proven ability to identify high-value
partnerships with the private and Civil Society Organizations to leverage
private investment and benefits.

·      
Experience of working with youth, women and
economic development activities will be an added advantage

·      
A proven ability to initiate, negotiate and
maintain effective working relations with private sector, research
institutions, Government departments, and Civil Society Organizations

·      
Ability to work independently and effectively
within tight deadlines

·      
Experience designing capacity Development
initiatives, Excellent facilitation, communication and team work skills,
Coaching and mentoring and Partnership nurturing skills
