Mandated by the
Uganda Cancer Institute Act of 2016, the Uganda Cancer Institute is an
autonomous body, with the mandate to, among others, undertake and coordinate
the management of cancer and cancer-related diseases in Uganda. It is critical
to the evolution of a National Centre of Excellence, providing specialized
treatment and care for all types of cancer using all the available subspecialty
expertise possible, as well as engineering oncology-centered research and
training.

Job Summary:  The Theater Assistant will prepare the theatre
for surgical operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Medical device
Repository

·
Washing
theater equipment/instruments;

·
Disinfecting
theater equipment/instruments;

·
Preparing
and packaging of theater instruments, linen and sponges;

·
Sterilizing
theater equipment, instruments, linen, sponges.

General Theater
Preparation

·
Setting
sterile trolleys;

·
Clearing
after procedures.

Controlling traffic
flow in Theater.

Infection
prevention

·
Waste
management/segregation;

·
Specialized
Theater cleaning.

Assisting Surgeons
during Surgeries

·
Scrubbing;

·
Circulating.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·
The
applicant must hold a Uganda Certificate of Education with passes in science
subjects or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Certificate in
Theatre Techniques

·
Previous
experience in cancer care or palliative care of counselling is an added
advantage

·

Time
management.
