About US:

Makerere University
College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health (MakSPH) with support from
the World Bank Group is coordinating the Operations Research Program on
Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) in Uganda
for a period of one (1) year. RMNCAH seeks to recruit Research Assistants (RAs)
and Research Officers (ROs) to support data collection for the different
Operations research studies.

Job Summary: The
research assistants will be primarily responsible for data collection and
associated activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       Participate in pretesting and updating of
tools

·       Administer informed consent and conduct
interviews in line with the study protocol.

·       Verbatim note-taking and audio recording of
interviews

·       Ensure completeness and accuracy of the
information provided by the research participants.

·       Follow up with subjects to resolve problems
or clarify data collected

·       Perform other duties related to data
collection and management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       The applicant must hold a Degree or its equivalent
in social sciences, public health and other related disciplines.

·       Experience in data collection using
qualitative techniques (at least three studies).

·       Experience in verbatim notetaking, audio
recording and transcribing.

·       Prior research experience among the Batwa,
Benet and Ik people.

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills

·       Good teamwork attributes

·       Attention to detail

·       Good time manager

·       Ability to deliver outputs under minimum
supervision

·       Must be ethical in conducting research.

·       Language proficiency in English and one of
the following languages (preferably with the Batwa, Benet and Ik dialects):
Kifumbira, Kuksabiny, NgaKarimojong

·       Desirable: A Mutwa. Benet or Ik by ethnicity.
